The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors will discuss local immigration enforcement activities Tuesday during a community forum on the state’s Transparent Review of Unjust Transfers and Holds (TRUTH) Act during the board’s regular meeting. The TRUTH Act aims to increase transparency and accountability among federal and local law enforcement agencies. It’s meant to ensure local law enforcement agencies provide people in their custody with basic due rights should federal immigration authorities seek them.
A statement from the board said the discussion will focus on local immigration activities in 2024 and agencies’ interaction with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
In recent weeks, ICE agents have shown up to arrest immigrants at the federal immigration court in Concord. Agents have clashed with protesters and U.S. Rep. Mark Desaulnier, D-Walnut Creek has criticized the arrests and demanded a meeting with ICE’s interim director. “The TRUTH Act forum is an important opportunity for community dialogue and trust,” said Supervisor and board chair Candace Andersen. “It gives our immigrant neighbors and those who are concerned about these issues the chance to ask questions, share concerns, and be part of a transparent conversation about how local law enforcement interacts with ICE.
“This forum is one way we show that every resident matters, and that Contra Costa County is committed to accountability and inclusion,” Andersen said. The board will also hear the quarterly sheriff’s oversight report, which includes information on the Sheriff’s Office’s interactions with ICE.
If the board discusses anything but following Federal Law, they should be removed. The state nor our little piss ant board of stupidity can contradict Federal Law. They do not get to decide and should not try to influence others into only following some laws. Period.
it is absolutely crazy that these politicians are publicly saying that they are not going to follow the Federal Law.
let’s be honest, we know that they push an agenda to violate the law. They have done it in the past and will continue until they are voted out of office.
Now before our TDS folks step in,
Trump was within the law to activate the CA national guard. Courts have said it.
Trump was within the law to order the bombing of Iran, he has 48 hours to report to congress. Look it up and don’t just believe CNN or what you saw on TicToc
Parent,

Under the U.S. Constitution, the States can’t be compelled by the federal government to use their legislative, executive, judicial, administrative, and law enforcement resources to enforce federal law. The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors are free to say what they want, but most of the information they’re going to cover is from 2024, not 2025. They just can’t prevent the federal government from enforcing federal laws in Contra Costa County and the State of California.
Can you cite the location in the U.S. Constitution? This is out of genuine curiosity as I cannot find a citation to support your statement.
I ask because I read the Supremacy Clause and “Article VI, Paragraph 2 of the U.S. Constitution explicitly states that the Constitution, federal laws, and treaties are the supreme law of the land” This was reinforced in a case in the late 50’s or early 60’s.
I understand that the Federal government cannot take over state law enforcement, but they cannot impede either.
parent,
.
You appear to only be looking at and interpreting the original text of the U.S. Constitution, but unfortunately that’s not the complete “U.s. Constitution,” the federal government views the U.S. Constitution as being thousands of pages long, because the federal government includes all U.S. Supreme Court decisions which have defined, limited, or expanded the rights of the People, the States, or the Federal Government. What I stated is the result of Supreme Court decisions, so you should blame the Supreme Court if you don’t like the fact that the federal government can’t force the States to use their assets to enforce federal law. It appears what these States are doing would fall under “States Rights.”
If what the members of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors is doing is illegal, don’t you think they’d be charged with federal crimes, along with thousands of other state, local, and special district elected officials across the country who are doing the same thing? If the federal government could force the States to use their assets to enforce federal law, don’t you think that President Trump would be doing that now?
Enforcing the law no matter your color or beliefs is what laws are all about. It’s called America.Any money spent on illegals should be spent on new jails and prisons for them IN MEXICO to send them to with an agreement with Mexico.Send thier criminals to their prisons if they are a mexican citizen.Cheaper for us to just build them a prison than keep them here.Im running for governor next time around btw.
Enforce the law, deport all illegals, let ICE do their job fruity CA,
…. “Hosting a forum” …ie – lots of talk, nothing else
Most likely they will discuss how to dodge local immigration enforcement.
That’s not the same. Dodging the law is breaking the law.
I personally don’t like speed limits, but I obey them because its the law.
Our elected officials have not come to terms with this concept.
California waste so much money. The law is simple. Come across the LEGAL WAY if not go back to your country. If you have come across ILLEGALLY you dont belong in the USA! ICE has all the right to arrest anyone that hasn’t come here legally. Its funny how I can now find a parking spot at Concord Home Depot. ICE should go there and down Monument Blvd. Then Concord Police calls would be cut in half.
but, but… I thought no one was above the law.
what is there to talk about? The law is the law.
The left here are silent on this obvious stupity.Hold Trump for spitting on the sidewalk but illegals can rape rob and murder,or youre a racist.
What will be consequences for cities, counties or states, openly defying
our federal immigration laws ? ? ? Could it go as far as Prosecution
and incarceration ? ? ?
.
Withholding of federal funds is temporarily on hold by order of an obama
appointed judge. IF eventual decision, possibly by The Supreme Court
is against sanctuary locations openly defiant of federal immigration laws,
can absolutely be assured SWAMP democrats will be calling in Rent A Riot
all across the country.
.
Given actions of democrat politicians in CA, could see republicans gaining
seats at city, county and state levels. Given cumulative years of Incompetent
and Mismanagement.
.
Weather vane politicians don’t deserve to hold any elected office.
Good luck trying to prevent United States Marshalls from taking some of the worst criminals who are here ILLEGALLY. I doubt the Local law enforcement will stand in their way!!
Thanks to AB 540, illegals pay in-state tuition at the CSU and UC systems. If you are a legal resident from another state you pay much higher tuition. So, we are subsidizing people who are here illegally who are being educated by our universities rather than legal residents???? This is lunacy IMHO.
Deport all illegals, its the law, bye bye woke, dei dmc and pride BS. Wake up CA!!!!!
Bay Area is a sewer!!!!!
Bye Bye DEI and BLM
“It gives our immigrant neighbors…” Stop with the misleading language. I’ve lived in multiple parts of this country and immigrants are everywhere, they are my co-workers, neighbors, run local businesses etc. They are legal immigrants! Nobody should use that term without qualifications. Legal immigrants, illegal (undocumented) immigrants. Quit just saying immigrants alone!
