Pack and Stack may be cheaper. It may be convenient. It is not better for the human body, mind or spirit. Why do the corporate Overlords live in their Penthouse and out of town on expansive estates…?
Exactly!

Far worse…. not even for these so called “transit villages” or “transit hubs” … too tight congestion – packed in people…. infrastructure wasn’t designed and built in the ’60s & 70’s for this – it’s ugly… never enough parking for tenants … crime has got to be higher in the high rise high density areas

So the county could look like Vancouver, BC? I thought there was supposed to be a drastic drop in world population in these coming years. 🙄
Captain Bebops,
.
There’s a drop in world birthrates, but the world population is currently expected to keep growing for the next 60 years before the world population is then expected to begin declining.
Don’t overlook some other science. So the “expected” growth is more propaganda than anything else (they need more wage slaves).
.
Yes, in my neighborhood there is a baby boom going on with the millennial parents (who pay more attention to their phones than their kids). I hear in other areas of the country this isn’t happening. And what kind of future will these kids have if they survive? Asteroid mining?

If it was left up to voters to approve these high-density mid-rise and high-rise housing projects, then these projects wouldn’t have never been approved.

I’m not against affordable housing but much of the building in this county has been monster homes for the profit. And many of those may fall into foreclosure. Some expensive condos nearby have a number of units in foreclosure. Young folks get a great income paying gig out of college and think it will last forever until a couple years go by….
.
Bottom line, our economic system is out-of-whack and very volatile. Not quite sure how to solve that but a lot of “reality tests” for political candidates.

As the “Central Cities” Core Urban areas of Contra Costa County being Concord, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Martinez and Clayton, there is no conclusive answer on this. Why?
Because Urban planners must be sensitive to the diverse values and life-styles of the people who live in urban communities if they are to achieve their goals, and still aren’t fully successfull in this area. This bias can can be illustrated about the design and use of space.
Most planners have assumed that people like a considerable amount of open public space and clearly
demarcatedareas of private space.
However, the disctinction between and public and private space is blurred among blue-collar and minority groups.Urban Planners and less affluent ahve different spatial preferences and has been noted and has been noted regarding the structure of individual apartments.
Therefore, it’s not an really better or worse it’s both. A trade off.
I would say worse, for me, just based on poor traffic alone. I can appreciate the need to make housing available, but wrongly or correctly, I view these high-density housing units as future tenements, a less severe version of housing projects seen in large cities.
