The Concord Police Department arrested one driver on suspicion of DUI during a targeted DUI enforcement patrol conducted on June 20, 2025. A DUI conviction can carry serious consequences, including an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties and a suspended driver’s license. Police are reminding the public that impaired driving isn’t limited to alcohol. Prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and marijuana—whether medicinal or recreational—can all affect a person’s ability to drive safely. Drivers are urged to always follow dosage instructions and heed warnings about operating vehicles or heavy machinery. Concord Police will continue to conduct DUI enforcement patrols throughout the year as part of their ongoing effort to keep roadways safe. This operation was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Isn’t it interesting, penalties for DUI are severe and equally applied to all
which has gotten message across to most, don’t drive after drinking.

Yet we have to endure criminals with a long rap-sheets being treated
the exact opposite way. Since 2011 state legislature and now newsom
seem intent on putting as many convicted felons as they can back out
on OUR STREETS.

At what Cost? Would those assets have been better used by deploying them to stop other Crimes?
