A Walnut Creek man has been sentenced to six years and eight months in state prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a minor and possessing a large volume of child sexual abuse material. Marc Alexander Simon, 28, received his sentence on June 26, 2025, in Contra Costa County Superior Court. Judge Charles Burch also ordered Simon to register as a sex offender for life upon his release. The charges stem from an April 11, 2024, incident in which Simon followed a child into a restroom at the Walnut Creek Library and sexually abused them. The child told an adult, who immediately contacted police. Walnut Creek Police quickly identified Simon’s vehicle using surveillance footage and located him elsewhere in the city. He was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. During the arrest, police seized an iPhone that was later found to contain hundreds of images and videos of child sexual abuse. Simon has remained in custody since his arrest and will begin serving his sentence immediately.

Kids should ALWAYS be taught what is NOT right and to tell an adult ASAP.

Lifetime registering a sex offender will put a crimp in his remaining years.
He’ll be out in just over 3 1/2 years, IF, he’s still around.
Prison has low tolerances . . . . let the adventure begin.

PC 288(a) – Two counts of lewd act upon a child, {possible sentences 3, 6, or 8 years}
PC 664/207(b) – Attempted kidnapping for child molesting,
PC 311.11(c)(1) – Possession of over 600 images of child pornography

Question for those more familiar with ‘the system’, short of going to Martinez
and digging thru records is there a way for the public to learn about cases ?

Part of the crime, and it’s intentional, is shame and secrecy.

Just seven years? Should allow the parents 10 minutes to do whatever, with no consequences and no limits…

Seven years sounds short but it’s longer than most sentences for child molesters. They should get life in prison/no parole or the death penalty.

It’s way too short for what he did; and I say you don’t throw him in prison, you him under it.

It hasn’t happened yet, but child rapists can be executed in Tennessee.
Crimes against children should have much harsher punishment. Hopefully his new roommates in prison give him that punishment!
With the Federal mandatory minimum sentencing, Simon would have gotten more time AND physically served more time in a cell for just for the child pornography alone than what he received for all the state charges combined. If the media was on Simon’s phone, he likely used the internet which would give the Feds jurisdiction plus the Feds have the resources to investigate were Simon got the media from and who he was trading with.
Makes me curious if anyone thought to ask the US Justice Department if they might be interested in prosecuting Simon…
