There is an elevated to near-critical fire weather threat Friday for the Diablo and Santa Cruz ranges, the National Weather Service said. Gusty winds and dry afternoon humidity are causing an increased risk of quickly spreading brush fires, the weather service said. “Obey local fireworks restrictions and be one less spark,” the weather service posted, along with a host of fire, police, city and county officials warning of the dangers of fireworks.
