The Water Cooler – What Do You Think Comes After Death?

The “Water Cooler” is a feature on Claycord.com where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it. The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday in the noon hour.

This is a serious question. Not meant to argue or anything like that. We just want to know what your thoughts are about what comes after death. Feel free to share stories if you’d like, especially if you’re a hospice doctor or nurse.

QUESTION: What do you think comes after death?

I don’t know, I am agnostic. There might be some kind of spiritual realm that, for the sake of argument, I will call Heaven. How can anybody know for sure if Heaven exists? I don’t know, but I do believe there is something, some kind of entity that had a hand in creating this magnificent and expansive universe, and the evolution of every living creature that exists, and
I choose to call that entity, God. I do believe in the power of prayer. I also believe that not just anybody can pray and expect God to listen. I believe a person must have a sincere belief and love for God, and live a good life demonstrating to Him sincerity. In my belief, humans are not angels, and God does not expect us to be angels. He understands that we are not perfect, and occasionally we mess up. As long as our mess-ups are small, they can be acceptable, but big mess-up like violence, cruelty, and being unkind to people may not be forgiven.
So, as I said, I don’t know, but I’m satisfied with my own personal belief system. It allows me to be content with my life, and to demonstrate kindness to my fellow human being. That doesn’t mean I have to go overboard, just a simple “thank you,” or “you’re welcome,” or holding the door open for the person behind you. They are simple little things that can make a person’s day seem a little brighter. One thing I do not believe in is the devil or Hell. (OK, that’s two things.) But I believe there are evil people in this world, that have something terribly wrong with their thought process, and they cannot ever be rehabilitated. I believe their punishment should be lifelong imprisonment, or death.

I on the same page as you Dawg. I do remember years ago when l was in Yosemite with the Scandinavian Club, we were walking back to the tent cabins at night after the BBQ across the river. I looked up and saw the stars and granite walls, and thought there’s more between heaven and earth than l can explain. Kind of felt the same way when l was in Israel and visited place known from the bible, even though l think at age 20 l considered myself an atheist.

I’ve heard the body dies / stops before the brain does… I’ve heard stories that were similar in that after “passing” they felt they could “see” their body as if from s third person – but these were from people that “came back” to full conscientiousness … so who knows for sure

Lawsuits among family, friends, and relatives. They’re gonna have a helluva time decoding the trust… it’s my parting gift.

The smart ones will hire a crypto analyst.

I know for sure that the body will naturally decompose over time (burial) or rapidly turn into ash (cremation) after death because I actually seen it.

Ascension into Heaven

If I had to bet a month’s pay…nothing.
But my soul going someplace where it’s finally appreciated
would be nice. And smokey single malts on tap.
And as long as I’m dreaming, a Mets World Series too.
Anything hell related or reincarnation is to be avoided.

Those creepy guys who work in the morgue.

For those of you who don’t know this song, it has some good points “And when I die”, by Blood, Sweat and Tears. It is available to view on UTube.

I think it will be more like the Moody Blues “Departure”
Use your headphones and volume on 100% and imagine your soul lifting out of your lifeless body and rising up and away from Earth faster and faster until your spirit being is traveling faster than the speed of light across the universe… yep, just like that.
