The Concord Police Department will be conducting a DUI enforcement operation on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., targeting drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. “Impaired driving is preventable,” said Sgt. Shawn Phalen. “It’s a choice. If you’ve been drinking or taken anything that affects your ability to drive, make the responsible decision to use a sober driver or alternative transportation.”
Police remind the public that impairment isn’t limited to alcohol. Prescription medications and even some over-the-counter drugs can impact driving ability. Always read warning labels and follow usage instructions. While both medical and recreational marijuana are legal in California, driving under the influence of marijuana remains illegal. Drivers arrested for DUI — even first-time offenders — can expect to face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, along with a suspended license. This enforcement effort is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

I believe it is a legal requirement in CA . . . law enforcement must provide advance notification of DUI checkpoints . . . odd IMHO
