The Walnut Creek Police Department, alongside their law enforcement partners, is participating in a speeding prevention campaign to encourage drivers to watch their speed and learn about the dangers of speeding. Officers will be conducting high-visibility enforcement during the “Speeding Catches Up With You” campaign, which runs now until July 31. Please slow down and obey posted speed limits. In 2023, there were 11,775 fatalities involving speeding. Speeding might save you seconds, but it can cost lives.

How are they going to “crack down” with just one (1) motorcycle traffic officer? WCPD is short staffed and not able to respond to all the calls for service they get now. Police administration and the city administrators have let the citizens and visitors down by shorting the number of police officers available to respond and you don’t see viable candidates applying due to a number of issues created by the city council, city manager and chief of police. Its probably a worthwhile investigation for the media to examine.
There’s a lot of truth in what you say! We have suspected that the Walnut Creek Council and mayor, and those who they pick are more aligned with ‘Berkeley values” now then what has traditionally been Walnut Creek. We personally fear that the city will not stay clean and safe and desirable. It will become more like Oakland and Berkeley with the guidance it’s now getting.

They’ll also ticket you for clicking. The last ticket I got was by a motorcycle cop in Walnut Creek, for clicking my seatbelt. A chump ticket by a rotten cop. I fought that ticket in court and won.
So you were just putting your seatbelt on because you saw said police officer and he saw you putting your seatbelt on and ticketed you for driving without your seatbelt on, is that the gist of your experience?

During the “Click it or Ticket” campaign, I left the Chase parking lot on the corner of Broadway and Mt. Diablo. I pulled onto Broadway and clicked. A cop sitting across the street saw me do this and quickly came out and pulled me over. He said I should have clicked before I left the parking lot. I was not fastened in for all of about 10 seconds. So, in a nutshell, I clicked it and got a ticket, and the judge sided with me.
Actually you started your vehicle and proceeded to drive while your seatbelt was not fastened so you are by definition guilty of breaking the vehicle code. The judge should have upheld the ticket because it was by the book. If you choose to not to fasten your seatbelt before you start the car you have opted for a possible deserved ticket you made that choice you should be accontable for the ticket that you earned!

I’m just glad the judge I received was more like Andy Taylor than Barney Fife, as Andy didn’t go by the book and neither did the judge. The judge listened to what I had to say and then made his decision. You sound like a cop who would pull someone over for doing 66mph in a 65 zone.
Nice a personal insult. Too bad you had a judge that wasn’t interested in upholding the law but what your personal interpretation of the law is but good for you, I am in fact somebody who does their job as asked and paid for so if my job was to ticket people that have made the decision to willingly exceed the speed limit that is what I would do with a smile on my face.

When I was 11 years old a WC motorcycle cop gave me a ticket for riding my bicycle around a corner without stopping for the stop sign at Carriage Dr. & Minert Rd.
It was the first & only time I’ve ever seen a cop ticket somebody on a bicycle.

Have a long story but won’t bore you all with it – bottom line, LE lied (true story) , judge believed him and said badged officers don’t lie ….. uh …right (sarc)
