BEWARE – Rattlesnakes Near Playground At Clayton Community Park

A very nice Claycordian sent us a quick warning about what they saw near the playground at Clayton Community Park today: “Two rattlesnakes sun bathing at Clayton Community Park about 30 feet away from the playground.”

Thanks so much for the photo. It’s that time of year, so watch where you walk if you’re near a park or open space.

Thats a sneaky snake!
but yes keep your distance.

Rattlesnake is delicious…you need a big one to get enough meat around the bones.

never had snake, closest I had, I would say, would be eel (both have elongated and limbless bodies, that would be the closest similarity). Will have opportunity to try eventually.

There used to be a place in Baypoint called T-bones (on Willow pass, long gone) that served Rattlesnake and would put your picture on the wall for ordering it ( I had many). The proprietor would come out to the table with the snake and show it to you prior to cooking…. It was a blast

Those rattle snakes hang out at that spot quite often. Seen people and dogs walk right by without noticing them. With all the critters around there they are keeping well fed and help to balance the eco- system.
