Bailey Road’s Condition Is An Insult To Every Driver Who Pays Taxes

If you’ve driven down Bailey Road lately, your suspension system probably deserves an apology. Stretching through Concord and Bay Point, this well-traveled corridor is a jarring obstacle course of potholes, uneven pavement, and bone-rattling bumps that have left drivers frustrated, commuters annoyed, and mechanics all too happy. The road conditions have been deteriorating for years, but the lack of maintenance has made things worse than ever. Deep potholes dot the lanes like landmines, forcing drivers to swerve, slow down, or risk serious damage to their vehicles. Some stretches feel less like a street and more like a forgotten country road. Bailey Road is a key connector between Highway 4 and residential neighborhoods, schools, and businesses. But despite its importance, its Temporary patchwork repairs have only made things worse, creating more uneven sections that rattle both cars and nerves.

QUESTION: Have you driven on Bailey Rd. lately? What are your thoughts?

So is almost every other road in CA, too.
The folks whom we elect who want to be known as “leaders” are not.
They’re supposed to be representatives of the voting public; however, they’re not that either.
They choose to be politicians for the power and money, a wholly self-serving agenda.

Yea its bad but to my knowledge its owned by Concord, CC county and Pittsburg so no one wants to repave it as its 3 different entities to have repave it, not just one. Even my 4×4 lifted truck hates the road, i try to use it the least i can due to all the major pot holes.

The 3 entities should be splitting the cost we pay our taxes they should be used appropriately. Elect out those that do nothing but pad their account balance.

I rode bailey with a friend and even though this was years ago it was really bad cant imagine what its like today.
nice to know we have some of the worst roads in the bay area.

And the highest taxes. It’s rather infuriating that our tax money is squandered away on goodness knows what and it’s all a big secret from us. Where does all this money go and who’s responsible for its disappearance, I wonder?

no wonder there are so many accidents there.

This is no new news unfortunately. This road has always been a giant pothole forever! Nothing new to hear….I felt bad driving this road as a daily commute route. My poor car(s) over the years for sure felt it!

We need to charge a toll. I live on Myrtle and here are too many people crossing for the amount of money spent on upkeep

I think our tax money is toll enough.

No worries, Seeno will repave it when his tract homes reach there (and they are not very far).

Dougherty Road in San Ramon was like that too, until Shapell Homes reached it with their Gale Ranch development then they realigned and repaved. But they owned all of the land around there since the 60’s but waited until the 90’s to repave it.

Now that Meadow Lane is repaved – Bailey is the worst, next is YVR in WC … Concord did a good job on Treat…. then Clayton Rd from YVR to Bailey.

Was once surprised to see a guy trying to ride his bicycle on Bailey! A look of terror was on his face as he tried to find a spot to pull over.

Oh not to be mean but that had to be funny. You need a mountain bike not a road bike.

I drive Bailey Rd. every day. The “temporary fixes” do not last beyond a few days – and then they themselves add to the problems. Instead of doing half-assed jobs with cheap-ass materials every few days/weeks, why not repave the entire road correctly? Don’t the idiots realize that it would be more cost effective doing it the right way? Oh, wait. Job security. Yeah. That’s got to be it. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

San Miguel Rd is another messed up road, I’ve raced motorcycles on smoother surfaces.

My wife had a blowout on Bailey Rd due to one of those potholes. I had to figure out how to change a flat, in the dark, on the side of the road, with a scissor jack without it rolling down the hill while she was watching for cars coming up the hill. Not something I would want to try again. Not to mention it was a new $280 tire.

I drove Bailey Rd throughout the late 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s. It was bad back then and I’m not surprised that still is a bad drive.

It will be fixed by October.

Bailey Road has become a commute shortcut to avoid Hwy.4 and 242. Over the hill on Bailey to Clayton Rd or Concord Blvd. to Treat. My house backs up to Bailey and the amount of trucks on this road has really gotten insane. I am now awakened nearly every day before 0600 to the sound of big rigs behind my fence. The commercial ruck traffic is tearing this roadway up. I have talked to the city of Concord and the Concord police about maybe enforcing the weight limit restrictions. They are not interested. If one or both of them read this, I would really welcome them to contact me. We can sit out back together.

IT IS THE CONCORD SIDE that is so bad. Concord collects an EXTRA 1% sales tax but can’t seem to find the money…… to fix roads (or anything else). Where is DOGE when we need it?

The COUNTY did a fairly good job of keeping Bailey Road passable and they don’t get that EXTRA 1% from our sales tax.

Where did the money go – CONCORD??

Amen!!

Looks freshly paved to me.

Patched, not paved. Big difference. 🫤

It would help if both the police in Concord and pittsburg ticketed drivers and overweight vehicles. It’s a daily occurrence with these vehicles. Also some drivers think they are Nascar racers passing on double yellow lines.
