Contra Costa County Supervisors To Hold Forum Tuesday To Discuss Cooperation With ICE

The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors will host a forum Tuesday on local immigration enforcement activities and concerns over local law enforcement sharing information with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcment agents. The forum will look at the county’s adherence to the state’s Transparent Review of Unjust Transfers and Holds Act. The TRUTH Act aims to increase transparency and accountability among federal and local law enforcement agencies. It’s meant to ensure local law enforcement agencies provide people in their custody with basic due rights should federal immigration authorities seek them. Participants will also examine the county’s adherence to the California Values Act, which was signed into law in 2017. The law limits state and local resources from being used to carry out immigration detentions and deportations. In recent months, ICE agents have detained immigrants at the federal immigration court in Concord. Agents and protesters have clashed, and U.S. Rep. Mark Desaulnier has criticized the arrests and demanded a meeting with ICE’s interim director. “The TRUTH Act forum is an important opportunity for community dialogue and trust,” said board chairperson Candace Andersen, in a statement. “It gives our immigrant neighbors and those who are concerned about these issues the chance to ask questions, share concerns, and be part of a transparent conversation about how local law enforcement interacts with ICE. “This forum is one way we show that every resident matters, and that Contra Costa County is committed to accountability and inclusion,” Andersen said. The board will also hear the quarterly sheriff’s oversight report, including information on the sheriff’s office’s interactions with ICE. The forum starts at 9:30 a.m. and can be seen at www.contracosta.ca.gov or on CCTV channels, DirecTV Channel 99, Comcast Channel 27, or Astound Channel 32. Send comments or questions to TRUTHAct@cob.cccounty.us. The board meets at 1025 Escobar St. in Martinez.

Where did the original post go? My comment here means nothing without the original. Could be that I posted under the wrong person? Still, where is the comment I intended to reply to?

Sad that they even think about not sharing info with ICE. As Ca goes to Sh-t the best states will soon be Fl, Ohio, Tn, Idaho and Texas. Do they realize that the majority of people in this country want the border closed and illegals sent home? We don’t need more people. We can’t even take care of our homeless and veterans. That – our citizens, should be their priority, and they should support ICE so they can do their job. Our golden state is tarnished.

All talk – little else…. gives the appearance they’re trying to come up with something…. all for show… just like what the local community staff politicos do ….. nothing new here… let’s move on….

To discuss what?
Follow the law Sup’s.

That’s an honest thing to do.

But, please forgive me for I forgot to whom I speak.

The Sups are politicians.

Dear California Democratic Electeds: Never forget that you brought this version of ICE on yourselves by nearly unanimously approving the Homeland Security Act without oversight. Don’t worry, your constituents are being arrested without warrants along with illegal immigrants now, but later on you can watch MAGA freak out when this inappropriately military combat unit gets turned on their own. MAGA thinks it can’t happen to them so maybe take the time during your forum to admit your mistake and remind them you Dems thought it couldn’t happen to you either.

Part of the problem is they don’t know what a constituent is.

Turned on them? For what?
For complying with and abiding by the laws of our country?

It already happened, Hope, during the last administration. There were a lot of people who were woken up in the wee hours of the morning to loud bangs, only to open the door to a bunch of drawn guns, and then hauled away. They were not illegals, they were Catholics.

1) If we know they weren’t illegals, doesn’t that mean that there is oversight process in place. A mistake was made and corrective action was taken – legal residents weren’t deported. Or are you suggesting they were raided because they were Catholics?

2) Resident status and religious affiliation are not mutually exclusive categories. One can be an illegal Catholic too.

@yoyohop
What I described happened to an American dad because he prayed at an abortion clinic.

You said this happened to “a lot of people…in the wee hours of the morning”. Now you’re saying it happened to dad because he prayed at an abortion clinic. That’s not the same as being arrested for being Catholic. What incident are you even referencing?

@yoyohop
I’ve heard people’s stories on the news who have experienced this, I just don’t know all their names. What I do know is that an American dad, who happens to be a Catholic, was arrested at his home early in the morning, for praying outside a clinic. His name was Mark Houck, and apparently, he’s not the only one. And let’s not forget about all the poor parents at school board meetings that Garland had arrested for absolutely nothing. Hope seems to think only dem constituents and illegals have been harassed and arrested.

Mark was arrested for allegedly assaulting a worker at an abortion clinic. He was exonerated during a trial.

There are people on both sides of the aisle that have been harassed and arrested but he was not arrested for praying.

Keep telling yourself that.

Telling myself what?

That he wasn’t arrested for praying. Naturally, that’s not the official charge, but that’s the way it was. Someone didn’t like Mr. Houck praying so they called the police saying he was harassing and blocking people, and the police arrested him.

So what process do you propose for removing tens of millions of illegal immigrants? Should each one be allowed a trial? Or do you suggest they be allowed stay?

once again on the wrong side

Hope, Like what the Biden administration did to parents who spoke out at school board meetings, because they were very concerned and worried about their children’s education?

To many drugs?

I didn’t know abiding by the law and cooperating with Federal Agents was optional.

Democrat politicians think that they are above the law, and the supporters of the democrat politicians believe that citizens have the right to choose which laws apply to themselves, and which laws don’t.

For democrats, the goal, justifies ANY means.

This should not even be a question. if there is a conflict between federal law and state or local law, the federal law trumps state or local law. Pun intended BTW.

This is more about the risk of loosing Federal Dollars, they want to determine how far they can push no cooperation and still get the cash, like Sacramento, it’s always about the cash

Read the law don’t listen to the gibber gabber of the politicians. I’m sure Mark thinks demanding a meeting shows he’s really looking out for everyone. I’m sure he never got the meeting. Good idea, let’s not let agencies share information.  Candice says “…we show that every resident matters, and that Contra Costa County is committed to accountability and inclusion,” What if sharing that information helps to keep Contra Costa County residents safe? Candice is talking out of the side of her mouth. Who is an ‘immigrant neighbor’, Candice?

Hard to believe some people are so in love with Convicted Felons it blinds their judgement…

Hard to believe that are so many people who put criminal invaders (illegal immigrants) of our country over Law Abiding Citizens of this country.

Want to argue that the immigrants have no crimes, umm, they may not have been prosecuted yet, but if they crossed without going through immigration they BROKE THE LAW!

Every single one of these people should be relieved of their position for breaking their Oath of office, no second chances. The oath that they swore too is to be honored 100% of the time, not when convenient for them, break the sworn oath that you agreed too, and you are out, no questions asked, because you are in most cases breaking the law, in the least you are breaking your word/ promise that you swore to uphold while in office.

Oath of Office
Printable/Fillable Version
State law requires members of boards in the Department of Consumer Affairs to take an oath of office as provided in the California Constitution and the Government Code.
Board members cannot begin their service or perform any official functions without first taking the oath of office.
Unless otherwise provided, the oath may be taken before any officer authorized to administer oaths. The oath, certified by the officer administering the oath, must then be filed with the Secretary of State.
Board members should contact the board’s executive officer to arrange taking the oath of office.
The oath reads in part:
“I, ______, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties upon which I am about to enter….”

Do your damn job, or get DOGE’d, PERIOD!!!
