A mountain lion was spotted early this morning in the backyard of a home in the area of Fairview Avenue and San Jose Drive in Brentwood, according to the Brentwood Police Department. While sightings like this may seem rare, wildlife experts remind the public that mountain lions are native to the area and often live quietly in the hills and open spaces surrounding neighborhoods. Most of the time, they go unnoticed — but every so often, one ventures close enough to be seen. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has been notified and is monitoring the situation. Residents are urged to stay alert, especially when walking with children or pets. If you do encounter a mountain lion, do not approach it, and report the sighting to local authorities.

Not exactly “The Ghost and the Darkness” is it?
That may be the scrawniest, smallest, shortest tailed mountain lion in California or it may be something else, but I have no idea what… the ears sure look right.
A daytime visit too…. is there chicken in the garbage can?
Neighbors should check their ring doorbells and security cams, maybe there is a decent video out there and we can see the whole cat.
