The Water Cooler – More Workplaces Use Cameras, Should School Classrooms Be Next?

QUESTION: Do you think there should be video cameras in all school classrooms – not for parents to watch, but for safety reasons and to allow school administrators to monitor teachers and students when necessary? Many other workplaces, government agencies (police), daycares and public spaces use cameras to ensure accountability and security. Should classrooms be any different?

Talk about it.

No classrooms aren’t any different, cameras should be mandatory after the crap pulled during COVID and the keeping preferred name or gender from parents. How can anyone trust the schoold districts anymore?

Yes, with parental live and audio access. That way parents can see and hear the drivel that is called education

Yes. Another the reason is for students to listen to lectures if they miss school. Some colleges already tape lectures and put them online.

Yes to protect the teachers! How of many of these little punks run wild in the school and then blame the teacher? Protect the teachers!

i don’t care if you don’t want your child videoed in the classroom – if they are acting appropriately, what are afraid of?

Yes – absolutely – maybe that would help guard against the cxxp being dished out & we can see the real and actual instruction being given…. who do we need to approve this? how quickly can we get this installed? (live audio & visual of course) What would teachers & administrators have to hide? hmmmmm?

Cameras in schools will impede learning and encourage indoctrination. Children will learn to say on camera only that which will keep them out of trouble with Big Brother (whoever or whichever that electric eye oversight might be – from politicians to tech bros to ??). Or maybe even learn that their parents will be harassed if they say the “wrong” thing on camera. Or maybe not get a job or admission to a college or trade school because of a mistake made before fully mature. You will be conditioning them to think it’s ok to be watched constantly in their every day lives. Far better for parents to coordinate in person classroom volunteering in some way and not wait for the next pandemic situation to monitor curriculum.

What is the world? If anything, it will encourage students to say what they really think without fear of the teacher punishing them for having normal views! I cannot think how many times I was forced to say a certain answer that I knew the teacher wanted. If I did not parrot their opinionated views, I would get in trouble. THIS would prevent that by having a record of how the teacher REALLY responds. And I have seen some horrible things from teachers.

In all workplaces. Watching everyone. All the time.

Absolutely not.

Visual only. No need for audio.

Honestly People, it’s never going to happen. The Teachers Union’s wil never let it happen! It would be very interesting to find out who are the downvotes concerning this. As a parent I want to be Fully Informed. My kids tell me about some of the CRAP that goes on in their Classrooms, and I would love to see it for myself, and hold those responcible for their action no matter who they may be.

As a teacher in the district, parents, please feel free to visit my classroom at any time. Regarding cameras, we would need to obtain signed agreements from every student’s family in order to implement this. If one student’s family declines, it cannot be implemented.

As a parent of students in the district, I would never want other adults, whom I do not know, to have access to what is going on in my students’ classrooms. There are some people out there who should not have access to the audio or video of minors.

I don’t want to see the Students. I want to see the teacher and what they are Spewing. Not all Teachers are indoctrinating students, but I want to identify the ones who are!
