UPDATE: Dash Cam Footage, Photos Confirm Deteriorating Conditions On Bailey Road In Concord, Bay Point

Just days after Claycord.com reported on the crumbling condition of Bailey Road, new dash cam footage and photos are reinforcing what local drivers already know: the road is in terrible shape, and getting worse. The dash cam video, captured by a local driver, shows a vehicle bouncing and shaking violently as it travels the bumpy stretch of Bailey Road through Concord and Bay Point. Deep potholes, uneven pavement, and temporary patch jobs turn the commute into a rough ride, just as we described earlier this week. But it’s not just the pavement. New photos taken along Bailey Road show piles of garbage dumped on the side of the road – broken furniture, bags of trash, tires, car seats, and construction debris all contributing to the sense of abandonment. Bailey Road is a key connector between Highway 4 and residential neighborhoods, schools, and businesses, but as our previous report detailed, it’s been neglected for years. The latest images and footage only drive the point home: Bailey Road is falling apart, and no one seems to be stepping up to fix it.

This has been going on FOR YEARS. My thoughts were that land lords, cleaning vacated rented appartments, didn’t want to add to their expenses, so they’d dumped on Bailey, or where ever. Less expensive than going to the dump. And, construction debris, household junk, garbage is not the only thing they dump….living on a street off of Bailey, we’ve had dogs and chickens left in boxes on the street.

I came here to say this. I drove Bailey as recently as a month ago, drove it several times in the mid 2000s, and used to have to make that drive with my parents multiple times a week in the 80s. NOTHING has changed recently compared to any of the other times in my life. It’s just the way that it is out there.

Time to rethink how the county governments handle dumps. That’s supposed to be a service to the public not just another income source. They put on their thinking caps (as if that would do any good) and make easy and less costly or free for the pubic to discard items even if it is a limited service.

I said it before “Dougherty Road in San Ramon was like that too(basically abondoned), until Shapell Homes
(they owned all of the ajacent property) reached it with their Gale Ranch development then they realigned and repaved. But they owned all of the land around there since the 60’s but waited until the 90’s to repave it.” Shapell Homes waited 30 years because they had no financial interest in doing anything, nor did Alameda County, because there were no other taxpayers to complain. What make this situation any different?

Sounds like that car may have some preexisting suspension issues

Not to mention that Californian drivers don’t do well on two lane rural roads. I would cringe at driving down that.

I was just driving on Bailey Road from hell with my parents last Saturday in a large truck and we were still bouncing around. I wouldn’t even call that a road. It’s a large dump with asphalt in the middle.

Driving that road is like going on a roller coaster at a carnival and hoping you make if off the ride safely.

I drove on Bailey Road last Saturday with my parents and our big truck was bouncing around like crazy.

As for the garbage some of the small stuff falls off the garbage trucks that drive to the dump and the illegal dumping is because people don’t want to pay an arm and a leg at the dumps. All the fees they add to mattresses, wood, paint and more and no where to take it and dump for free. Just another money on FEE’S.

Driving Bailey Road reminds me of going on a carnival circus ride and hoping to survive at the end of the ride.

Well at least now I know where I can get rid of my old oven and fridge…sheesh … clean up the garbage, Concord and Bay Point.

Hey I know! Maybe if they raise taxes the roads will get fixed!! Oh wait…

All ya’ll on here quit crying like babies and file a report with the City online services. Then maybe if they see enough complaints, they’ll fix it! So what if it has been like that for years! Each time you complain, they’ll fix it one way or another.

Sounds like you dont actually live in California.Enjoy piggly wiggly.

Just close it between the landfill and Concord. That will fix the dumping problem, save on maintenance and reduce the flood of commuters coming in from East County.

It’s in the works, it will be restored this year

That road has been a hazard since the 60’s. There is no place to get off the road if necessary and there have been many accidents. That road has been ignored for decades.
