Cowellian’s first.
It’s been a hot week, and next week promises to be hotter.

Wasn’t here is the Bay Area. It’s been more like an “early fall”. Too much “tic-tac-toe” birds I think though they haven’t been around much lately but on Thursday saw a one brief trail amongst the more natural looking cirrus clouds and cumulus ones. Thick cloud banks north and south of me.

Coolest summer in 26 years so far….

Here you have it:
https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/researchers-quietly-planned-major-test-110000473.html
Long article and well worth the read. It’s a good expose though they still think that some of the experiments have been “conspiracy theories”. All one had to do in the last few month was look up at the sky instead of walking around staring at your phone.

I had a dream last night about a joke I heard, on TV, I guessed.  I don’t remember how long ago it was, or who the comedian was, and the weird part is I only remembered when I woke up the punchline. (I did a quick search and it turns out I saw it online somewhere) Here it is. See if you like it. Ready?
“My parrot died today.  Its last words were “Dang, I think my parrot’s about to die”
Dreams are weird. But I do like that joke.

Geez PP, I only know two parrot jokes one involves a lot of cussing & the other might be a little bit political, but not really……. anyway, Barrak Obama walks into a bar with a big beautiful parrot on his shoulder & the bartender says “Whoa! where did you find that?” and the parrot answers “Kenya”.

OK…I’ll try to clean this up.
*
A guy’s uncle dies and leaves him a parrot.
He brings the bird home and asks it “Can you talk?”
The parrot says “Go F### yourself!”
The man is kind of shocked and tells the bird “NO! You don’t say bad words!”
Parrot screeches “Eat sh*# and die A$$h*le!”
Very upset now, the guy says “Stop cussing or I’ll put you in the freezer!”
“Just F### off!” laughs the parrot.
So the man puts the parrot in the freezer, cage & all then slams the door…. parrot looks around and sees a plastic wrapped package of halved chicken & he says “Damn! I wonder what the F### he said?!!!!

@~ Dr. Jellyfinger
The cussing parrot joke made me laugh so loud, out-loud!
Thanks, … I needed that.

Excellent!! As Mark Twain once probably could have said, “One can never have too many parrot jokes at one’s disposal”

Shout out to the few home insurance companies left in California that offer inflated policies to their holders. We just opened an email from our home insurance company and our policy jumped by 48.9% from the previous year. We have never submitted a claim, do not live near a flood or fire zone, and the fire station is less than 1 mile from our home. We thought it was gouging us last year when it jumped by almost 25% last year. So, I guess we can expect next year’s bill to double unless we wise up and leave. If it weren’t for family, friends, and the weather, I’m sure like many others we would leave the Golden State. We know the grass is not always greener on the other side, but we see nothing positive happening in this state. Add to this increase in cost will be gas as two more refineries will leave within 6 months. Remember, gas has a direct correlation to food items.

I hear ya…. but I’m hearing similar stories from others I know in other states … insurance wise … not gas prices, food, etc.

This is so unfair. Also Medical Insurasnce cost is off the rails. Supplemental Insurance costs more than Medicare. When you don’t use it you should get some money back. It’s eating seniors alive.

Since Prop 103 passed, insurance rates are no longer based on actual risk in California, so the insurance companies do not have adequate reserves to cover disasters like the LA fires.

Very much like the CPUC is allowing PG&E and now SoCal EDISON due to the LA Fires to raise ‘non-victim rates to help the utilities make back the money they’ve had to pay for killing people through neglect, the Insurance Commissioner is allowing insurance companies to raise their rates to everyone to help make up what it cost to cover the Utility companies.
They make the big Corporations “whole” with virtually ZERO concern for the common family that’s just trying to hold on…… It’s criminal.
I posted a couple links to stories in Politics… here’s another:

https://www.canarymedia.com/articles/utilities/who-pays-when-utilities-get-sued-over-wildfires

Part of PG&Es bankruptcy deal, was to “Draft a plan” on what they would do to prevent another Paradise, etc… NOWHERE does it make them prove they are following a plan… they just had to “draft” a plan.

🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍Warning!🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍
There was a rattlesnake skin at the Lydia Lane park today in Clayton, near the Clayton library.
There have been several snake sightings in the area, at parks where you’d least expect it.

Always have dogs on a *short* leash and be careful with the kids!

What exactly is it about using turn signals that is such a burden to so many CCC drivers?

Just remember, if you are someone who does not use turn indicators, the rest of us assume you are taking the self-guided tour.

@ Fearless – You are absolutely right.
It is obnoxious, inconsiderate and dangerous.
Combine that behavior with blacked out windows and you have the complete jackass package!
We don’t know which way they’re going, no eye contact so we can’t even tell if they’ve seen us and so, due to their reckless disregard for every other motorist on the road, we have to sit there like chumps and wait for them to pass by, turn, stop or whatever as tho they are children running out into the street without looking.
Obnoxious, inconsiderate jackasses!

Many drivers seem to think turn signals are just a relic left over from the 20th century.

..and actually a ticketable offense – does LE issue citations for it but will for seat belts or cellphones? noooooooooo they could rack up some big bucks if they would

was going to go to the CA State Fair on Sunday, last day, but looks like limited entertainment and animals around. Anybody been there on the last day before and is it worth the drive and parking?

Yes I have – no it’s not

Emptying a junk drawer on a trampoline,
you’d be surprised how often that happens . . . . . . .

YIKES!! That link was like looking at myself in the mirror!!

If interested, can hyper focus, otherwise, I’ll wander off . . . . . . . .
When doing projects at work, upgrading motor drives and control
systems, sometimes had 4 – 5 projects going at once.
Weekends would get to work before sun was up, decide it’s time
for lunch and sun already went down.

Concord Veranda taken over by Oakland Antioch Vallejo kids. They hurt Brentwood. They’re trying to trash Concord too. News don’t report cuz… you know why…

No news coverage?
Where are all the white ….
Oh…. now I see, never mind.

@ Leroy
You know there could be another aspect to this.
If that story got a lot of news coverage the youngsters would get to see themselves on TV and that would encourage more of the same nonsense.
News media should cover the story & point out the stupidity of these gatherings but no video & no photos… no rewards for the kids, just a long drive, a waste of gas & getting hassled by the cops.
We used to cruise Main St. when I was a kid & cops would just put up barricades and we’d have to leave.
Nobody was fighting or shoplifting tho… we would go to Oak Grove & Ygnacio to drag race up the hill. That’s about it.

My Claycord mug arrived. Nice quality,
well packaged and right on time.

“Nice quality” and “well packaged” gets a thumbs down? Man, there sure are some miserable folks out there.

Mr. Mayor of Claycord,
.
Do you have any information on the accident that occured at the northbound Grant Street/SR242 onramp metering lights involving a CHP cruiser at about 3:00 p.m. on 03/28/2025? Looking at the CHP vehicle being loaded onto a flatbed, it appeared the CHP cruiser had rear ended another vehicle.
