Prosecutors in Contra Costa County have charged a Delta Airlines co-pilot arrested this weekend with 24 felonies associated to the alleged sex abuse of a minor, the District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday. 34-year-old Rustom Bhagwagar was arrested Saturday after his plane landed at San Francisco International Airport, authorities said Monday. He is currently being held in jail in Martinez on a $15 million bond, prosecutors said. The D.A. is charging him for allegedly engaging in a sex act with a child under ten, oral copulation with a child, forcible lewd acts upon a child and the aggravated sexual assault of a child. The District Attorney’s Office has also charged another woman in the case, Jennifer Powell, 45, on what prosecutors are describing as a “related felony.” On Monday, the Sheriff’s Office said its detectives have been investigating Bhagwagar since April, after receiving a report of sex crimes against a child. They obtained a Ramey warrant for his arrest and learned he was going to fly into SFO on Saturday. Bhagwagar’s next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday in Martinez.
