Now that Trump has fired the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics because he didn’t like the reported jobs numbers, we can expect future numbers to be downright “beautiful”. I’m sure the same will apply to inflation numbers. Trump’s not likely to simply put his finger on the scale, he’ll use his famous fist.
It does put Powell in a more difficult situation which is a good thing.
He, like Mayorkas, was given the edict to do as much damage as possible until stopped. He had help, and now he has a little less help. Good.

It seems that your cynicism is missing the point of the firing. Government statistics need to be reliable. Policy is set and directed based upon these Govt stats. McEntarfer’s statistics were so far off that it smacks of bias.
From Mar ’24 until Mar ’25, the Bureau erased nearly 1 million jobs that were “created”. This equates to almost 100% of the domestic jobs “created” under Biden. This is all on Biden, not Trump, as he was not in office until late 1/26.
There are really only two ways to look at the poor performance of the BoLS: Either McEntarfer was historically bad at her job, or she doctored the numbers to make Kamala more appealing. Either situation should disqualify her from this job.
