A woman suspected of driving under the influence with four children in the car was arrested after crashing into a center divider wall on Highway 24 near Lafayette on Sunday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The children weren’t injured in the crash, which happened about 3:45 p.m., after multiple callers reported a reckless driver speeding and using the center divide to pass other vehicles. A CHP officer tried to pull the car over, but the driver didn’t yield, and the pursuit was ended due to reports that there might be children in the vehicle. Minutes later, the vehicle crashed into the Highway 24 center divider wall near Central Lafayette. The CHP said the car wasn’t being pursued at the time of the crash. A CHP helicopter transported the driver to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. All four children in the vehicle appeared unharmed but were taken to a hospital as a precaution. The driver, a 32-year-old woman from Newark, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, child endangerment, and reckless evading, the CHP said.

For once, the drunk driver was hurt, but the innocent people weren’t.

Why? So you can stare into every vehicle as you drive to see if you recognize her?
