Late last month, a CHP officer pulled over a white Chevrolet Silverado on U.S. Highway 101 for a traffic violation. During the stop, K9 “Rae” alerted to the scent of narcotics coming from the vehicle. Officers searched the truck and discovered approximately 30 pounds of suspected methamphetamine. A CHP detective later obtained a search warrant for the driver’s home. K9 “Chip,” officers searched the residence and located an additional 10 pounds of meth hidden in a bag. The driver, 37-year-old Alan Duran, was arrested and booked on multiple drug charges.
