Walnut Creek May Jump at Chance for New Sky Zone Trampoline Park On Ygnacio Near Oak Grove

The Walnut Creek Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Thursday Aug.14 on a proposal to open a Sky Zone Trampoline Park at 2800 Ygnacio Valley Road in the Orchards Shopping Center. The project would repurpose the former SteinMart space for indoor recreation, with no building expansion planned. City staff say the plan meets zoning requirements and is exempt from further environmental review. If approved, Sky Zone would operate seven days a week with timed entry, on-site safety staff, and programs for different age groups.

Sky Zone currently has dozens of locations throughout the United States.

Like the orchards isn’t already over crowded enough! Parking takes forever.

So it won’t be an Olive Garden.

Nobody goes to the Orchards, it’s too crowded.

The Ditches Shopping Center is already a paradox with inadequate parking.
However right behind it, are 175 senior apartments. Why not bring in businesses that cater to seniors within walking distance?
It’s doubtful trampolines will be very popular with the seniors.
Plus the already over-populated parking lot will be full of double parked soccer moms dropping off little Ralph. A business like this should be located over by the indoor soccer deal between Shadelands and Mitchell.

The decision has already been made, checks have been written, and the public meeting is just a box on a spreadsheet.

So you would rather see another decaying empty property At least WC tries to fill properties vs Concord that lets things sit and decay for years or tears things down for stack n pack housing

Bad idea and great way to get a broken neck and park closed.

You sign a liability waiver first thing

Seems doomed to fail, yet I hope it succeeds.

Whatever happened to the Bocce Restaurant complex?

Like the numerous upscale restaurants promised… another dose of hot air to get it passed

I give i a year at most…. I – and many others – avoid Orchards completely… not nearly enough parking and the store owners won’t have the employees park in the upper deck parking area – so employees take all the available spots near the stores… its not worth it… and Encina has become bumper cars since they redid their parking lot a few years ago… I see low speed accidents in there almost every time I go there… which isn’t very often now
