Congressman Mark DeSaulnier will host a town hall in Lafayette on Thursday, August 21, at 6:30 p.m. with special guest Congressman Jim McGovern, the top Democrat on the House Committee on Rules. The discussion will focus on how House Democrats are using legislative tools to counter the policies of Congressional Republicans and the Trump Administration. The event will include updates on recent developments in Congress, such as the “impacts of Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill” and GOP leadership’s efforts to block release of the Epstein files.” Both Members will also take questions from constituents. The town hall will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Lafayette, with the exact location provided upon RSVP. Attendance is limited and advance registration is required at desaulnier.house.gov/town-hall-rsvp or by calling (925) 933-2660.

Congressman Mark DeSaulnier stated at a previous townhall what the agenda was for Democrats in Congress to fight the agenda of President Donald Trump, it’s to “AGITATE, AGITATE, AGITATE” and “TO WORK WITH OUR PARTNERS IN THE COURTS.” With the separation of powers and the Courts being a separate branch of the government, Democrats (and Republicans) shouldn’t have any “PARTNERS” in the Courts.

As far as the “Epstein Files” go, why didn’t Congressman Mark DeSaulnier spend the last 5-years demanding that they be released? It’s because they weren’t a political tool that he could use in an attempt to pummel President Trump during the Biden Administration, and now they are. Mark, demand the release of the “Epstein Files” because it’s the right thing to do, and not because you believe it’s for political gain.

I still remember when you and Councilmembers Lloyd Mashore and Nancy Gore were on the front page of the Contra Costa Times with the headline stating there were now 3 Republicans on the Concord City Council. It was in 1994, when Republican Governor Pete Wilson picked you from obscurity and appointed you to fill the Sunne McPeak vacancy on the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors as a Republican. You were elected to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in 1994 and 1998 as a Republican. In the year 2000, at the urging of then Congressman George Miller III, you switched parties and became a Democrat, so that you could further your political career by making it easier for you to keep being elected and having the opportunity to seek and win election to higher office. You were reelected as a Democrat to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in 2002, then elected to the California State Assembly in 2006, the California State Senate in 2008 and 2012, and to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2024. You spent your first 30-years of adulthood as a Republican and your last 25 years of adulthood as a Democrat. President Trump was a Republican, then a Reformer, then a Democrat, then a Republican again, then an Independent, and then a Republican again. You’ve both been Democrats and you’ve both been Republicans, so you’re one of the few Democrats in Congress today, who should actually be able to work with President Trump on something, but it appear that you don’t want to work with him on anything, even if it’s something that you want and support, because you’ve been given the instructions to “AGITATE, AGITATE, AGITATE.”

Let’s try this on for size like normal people do…Let’s try to work with things that come at us rather than rail against them just because they don’t fit our agenda. Mark, I see you spending your time on what the party tells you. How about thinking about your everyday voters here in CA and what we need. I know you think the Bill was ugly, your told to say that, but some people won’t have taxes taken from their tips. When is your town hall to address regular residents pain points and the legislation your working on to help us? Utility costs, insurance costs, permit costs, good infrastructure, public safety are a few ideas for you. I’m sure your sheep will enjoy your town hall.
Mark DeSaulnier never leaves the Amen Corner anymore. Every town hall he has is in Lafayette and it is always about “Stopping Trump” or some other pointless nonsense. Just more tap dancing for the people who still give you money I guess. It would be refreshing if you had a town hall in another city in Contra Costa where perhaps you are not as fawned over, so you can hear from some of your other constituents, there are many of us that care about things that directly affect live here in CCC and what you can do to help make it better. Many of us would rather move on from “resistance” BS and just tackle some issues we can all agree on, like bringing down crime.
Hey maybe next town hall can be at 6 pm at a jewelry store at Sun Valley Mall?
