The Water Cooler – Do You Think The Menendez Brothers Should Be Released From Prison?

The Menendez brothers are Lyle (born 1968) and Erik Menendez (born 1970), two brothers from Beverly Hills, California, who became infamous in the early 1990s for the brutal killing of their wealthy parents, José and Kitty Menendez, inside the family’s mansion on August 20, 1989.

QUESTION: The Menendez brothers are scheduled to appear before a California parole board, in separate hearings this week. Erik’s hearing is Thursday, Lyle’s is Friday. Do you think the brothers should be released from prison?

Nope…. full extent of the sentence

NO! I don’t believe they were molested. I believe they were greedy rich kids looking for an early inheritance. If they were molested, why go after their mom? Lyle reloaded the shotgun and fired away at her. Sad and pathetic. They need to stay put and continue to sit and think about what they’ve done. If they’re released, it will open the floodgates.

Yes, twelve hours after they are pronounced dead

Ultimately, it’s up to the parole board, they know more about this case than I do. All I know is what has been said on the news, and I never trust the news to be truthful about anything, especially now when they have been praising criminals as if they are some sort of god.
It was soft on crime, George Gascon that resentenced them so they will be eligible for parole, and the current LA County DA is opposed because he believes the brothers have not taken
full responsibility, nor have they acknowledged lying about the murders.
If there is new evidence of sexual and physical abuse, I would like to see a new trial and let a jury decide. Lesley Van Houten, and Lynette Squeaky Fromm of the Manson family
have been paroled, and they were far more brutal than the Menéndez brothers.

The Manson family was far more brutal the Menendez brothers, and I don’t think they should’ve been released either. Even Newsom (as progressive as he is) didn’t want Van Houten paroled, but he threw in the towel because of the parole board.

Van Houten was a woman in her 70s and with or without a criminal record, a woman in her 70s is less of a threat than men in there 50s.

Squeaky Fromm even got paroled after she almost murdered a U.S. President in 1975 !

Gee, I don’t know.
What does Chris Van Hollen suggest?

Let them rot don’t care why they killed the fact is that they killed which is llegal last time I checked. Re-trying crimes is idiocy, a waste of time and money.

what would their Parents say? Anyone that would kill their Parents is not fit to live in society in my book.

No, but Scott Dyleski should be freed as attorney Daniel Horowitz along with some help from the CCC Sheriff’s Office and D.A.’s office, completely FRAMED a sixteen-year-old kid back in 2005-2006.

No…. are you going to forgive peoples parking tickets if they claim they were bullied in traffic and needed to park in the handicapped to cool down? Yes totally absurd but parallel. crime deserves time and no matter what happened planned killing “not in the heat of passion” is premeditated murder. rot forever

I don’t like people getting special attention because famous
people intervene and interfere with the justice system.
That said, I don’t really care either way.

Does anyone actually want these two loose on the street…? If they weren’t already bat***t crazy back then…what do you think 30 years of lock-up with the big guys has done to them. Maybe when the asylums are open again…they can move there…and make some weird pottery or something.

I don’t know if the boys were really sexually abused by their dad, but I do know Lyle got bald in prison.

Stop it! 🙂

Everyone no matter how heinous deserves a second chance. When you take away all hope form a person you create nothing more than an animal. But it may not yet be time for release. Had they just killed their father maybe there would have been a better argument at trial but the killing of their mother as well renders such compassionate consideration premature. The idea of life without the possibility of parole is as inhumane as the penalty of death itself. So more time to reflect on their crime is warranted but they both have to know there is a time for them to leave the prison walls and try to return something back to the world.
