Bay Area Turns Up the Heat: Inland Temps Ready To Break A Sweat Later This Week

The National Weather Service forecast for the greater San Francisco Bay Area for the week calls for “Moderate Heat Risk” conditions in the inland areas Thursday through Saturday. Moderate Heat Risk is a designation given to weather conditions that can lead to health problems for people who are sensitive to heat or people who are exposed to high temperatures for extended periods of time. The risk is expected to extend through the North Bay, East Bay, South Bay, and Monterey and San Benito counties, with the potential to spread across the San Francisco Peninsula, including the city of San Francisco.

“We’re definitely going to see some of the warmest weather of the year so far,” Weather Service meteorologist Dylan Flynn said. “It has been a cool summer. But the temperatures are going to climb at least 5 to ten 10 above normal.” High temperatures are expected to vary depending on proximity to the coast, according to Flynn. Daytime highs will reach the low 100s in inland areas and be mostly in the mid to upper 70s along the coast and on the bay shore.

Flynn warned of the health concerns that accompany elevated temperatures. “When we see this level of heat we start to get concerned about health impacts, especially to vulnerable populations,” he said. “That’s elderly people, that’s young children, that’s anybody who lives or works outside. Just take care if you fall into one of those groups: hydrate, stay in the shade, take breaks.” Temperatures will cool slightly into the weekend but remain warm into the next week.

I get so tired of these types of “heat risk” articles. It has been one of the coolest summers in decades and getting back up to a more normal heat index for the month of August is “cause for concern”. We went through Indian summers almost every year when I was in middle school/high school.

Gotta love California – keep pushing this garbage so they can ignore the real problems of crime, political grift, high taxes, etc.

I feel that all these advisories also treat us either like children, or idiots. IE be sure to drink water….. be sure to wear your coat cuz it’s going to be cold….. or be sure to dress lightly cuz it’s going to be hot….go in the shade if it’s too hot…blah blah blah.. All these stupid things that any normal person knows. Though, you wonder if they’ve dumbed us down so much, that now rhat most don’t know.

No tic-tac-toe planes up spraying for awhile so we have true blue skies. However from what I’ve seen the “weather menu” may not actually be served.
.
I heard someone up in Oregon complain of the heat up there but for decades often visiting relatives in the Bay Area and passing through Oregon, August like eastern Washington would be hot. It’s often too long of winters spilling into spring and unstable climate changes that are troublesome. Their “experiments” seem to have broken the weather.
