Benicia Bridge Work Halted Due To Supply Delays

Work and closures on the Benicia-Martinez Bridge have been suspended for up to four weeks due to supply delays, while inspections and repairs on the Carquinez Bridge continue, Caltrans said. The projects, part of the T1 Steel Weld Inspection Project, are described by the state agency as critical to maintaining the structural integrity of both spans. Caltrans said in an advisory Monday that despite the pause, closures on the Benicia-Martinez Bridge are set to end in December. Carquinez Bridge closures remain on schedule through September, if weather permits. Eeastbound I-80 lanes 3 and 4 from Refinery Road to the Carquinez Toll Plaza will be closed Monday to Thursday from 3 a.m. to noon and Fridays from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. The eastbound I-80 on-ramp from Pomona Street and San Pablo Avenue will also be closed. Caltrans said drivers may experience minor delays and are advised to use caution through work zones.

What if you got an old CALTRANS uniform
and setup in one of the toll booths and started
taking tolls? Bet the lights still work.
Maybe when I retire. 😇
