Made me snort.
Must be a cute desk sergeant
working the counter. 😋

It wasn’t my idea to visit there, but I did get a private room (that was 45 years ago when I was young & foolish).

The top three for me would be the view from Heavenly Valley (Mountain) ski resort. The view of Lake Tahoe from the top of the ski lift was breathtaking. Another would be the view from the ridgeline above Zermatt Switzerland. The view north into Switzerland and south into Italy was spectacular, especially since the Matterhorn mountain loomed high above. Crater Lake in Oregon is also amazing.

The Downers obviously have not been there! They have no Clue…

Or maybe they just don’t like Paul for all his left wingieness… that isn’t fair.
There is a person who always gives me a thumbs down no matter what I post ( it’s only because I’ve proven him to be a plagiarist & an idiot over and over again ) it’s petty, but I get a kick out of it.
I still give him a thumbs up on those very rare occasions when he has a lucid moment and makes a comment that isn’t totally stupid… like praising my dog when he goes outside to crap & pee… good boy!

A three-way tie between Venice, Italy, the Swiss Alps and Niagara Falls. I’ll go with Niagara Falls. We stood under the falls, and it was mesmerizing.

My top ones are Gieranger fjord in Norway, the Canadian Rockies (especially the Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper), Lake Braies in the Dolomites in Italy, Lake Como, also in Italy, and Yosemite.

Lake Como is one I forgot in my comment, totally agree.

Nearby Lake Orta is also very special.

There are so many, I cannot name just one, but the state of Utah was the first place
that popped into my head. Utah is of itself a state of natural beauty. There’s Zion National Park, Arches National Park, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, the
Peekaboo & Spooky Slot Canyons, and Bryce Canyon.
Arizona is another state full of natural beauty with the Grand Canyon, the Petrified Forest, the Painted Desert, Horseshoe Bend, and Spider Rock.
Oregon has Crater Lake, the Columbia River Gorge, and the most breathtaking
coastline I have ever seen. Wyoming has Yellowstone, and in California, we have Yosemite, Death Valley. Big Sur, the Mojave Desert, the McArthur-Burney Falls, the Devil’s Postpile, Lake Tahoe, Mono Lake, Joshua Tree National Park, and the giant redwoods.
Anyway, those are some of the places I have been to back when gas was cheap and road trips were affordable.

I agree with you on the State of Utah. There are so many beautiful places to visit.

Walking across the Golden Gate Bridge during the Blue Angels air show. OMG! Not only breathtaking but I had chills on my spine.

Love the Blue Angels, have gone to see them several times.

Chics donuts at 6am buying a coffee and seeing all the delicious donuts. Of course i get the apple fritter. Only donut worth eating.

I was awestruck looking at the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights, our Founding Documents, so, the National Archives.

Niagara Falls in the winter, when it is frozen over and has colored lights on it. A long time ago I lived a couple hours from the falls, and saw it in the summer dozens of times, but only once in the winter. It is surreal when it is frozen over with colored lights on it.

Too many for there to be only one so here’s my top 5- Redfish Lake outside of Stanley Idaho, Selway Bitteroot Mountains Idaho, Wind River Range Wyoming, Anywhere in Alaska and Yosemite Valley.

Switzerland, so many of them to see.
The view from the top of Half Dome; especially looking over the edge of the flat side (instant vertigo).
Niagara Falls when I was 13.

I almost included Switzerland, especially Grindelwald, on my list.

Dang, you guys have seen some cool stuff I haven’t.
But my humble submission is a dead tie.
The Black Forest and the north coast of Crete.
Can’t choose and you can’t make me. 😝

A drive through the Alps is spectacular. As part of a month-long road trip mostly in Italy and Switzerland last year, we drove from Venice to Lake Braies through the Dolomites, one of the most beautiful drives we’ve ever done. After 3 days at the spectacular Lake Braies, we drove the rest of the way north to Hall in Tirol Austria (near Innsbruck) for an overnight, then drove west through Austria, Liechtenstein and into Switzerland to Grindelwald, another top 5 drive. There was a closed tunnel in Austria that we had to detour around that went up and over a mountain and we were in a snowstorm for about an hour; it was beautiful (this was in late May). Then we went to Gunten (on Lake Thun), Montreux (too early for the jazz festival though), then Annecy France, then through Chamonix, through the Mont Blanc tunnel (7.2 miles long!) that exited in the spectacular Aosta Valley in Italy, then to Milan for our flight home.
Road tripping is a great way to see Europe.

I always wanted to go to the Montreux Jazz Festival. I have several CD’s from the festival. !9745, 76, 77, those year was great, some of the best jazz you will ever hear, Oscar Peterson, Count Basie, and my fellow Dane Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen, and many other jazz greats.

St. Croix

Hard to choose, so many beautiful places in the world, and all different. Yosemite, The Swiss Alps, several places in Iceland, same for Israel, Ein Gedi (overlooking the Dead Sea). Sea of Galilei, Haifa, The Red Sea, some of the Greek Isles, Corfu, also Athens, Luxembourg at nite. Montreux by lake Geneva. As for California Lake Tahoe, the Coast line, Wine country. My native Denmark does not have mountain, but still many beautiful places. the tip of Denmark, Skagen, the islands of Bornholm and Samsoe. The coastline north of Copehagen where you can see Sweden acrooss water. The musuem of modern art Lousiana, has a beautiful sculpture garden and again you can see Sweden across the water. Let’s not forget the areas around here like Half Moon Bay or Santa Cruz. I’m sure I forgot some, but that is all I could think of .

Most breathtaking viewing experiences:
First time walking up to the Grand Canyon. You cannot see much until you get right near the rim. It kind of surprises you and WOW!!!

Arches National Park. Something new around every bend. Nice campground too.

Had a phenomenal view of Saturn through the 20″ telescope at Chabot Observatory on a night with absolutely perfect “seeing”. It looked like a painting!!!!

… reminded me of one – looking through a fairly powerful telescope at the moon on a very clear night… literally looked like you were on the ground looking at a rocky plain with mountains in the distance…. felt like you could reach out and touch it
