A man who escaped custody in Washington state was arrested in Benicia this week after someone reported a suspicious person, police said. On Thursday just before 11 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person on Lake Herman Road near the reservoir. Police made contact with Michael McGrath, 30, who allegedly falsely identified himself. Eventually officers discovered that he was wanted out of Washington on suspicion of ten counts of arson and had escaped from a community custody program. McGrath was placed under arrest and transported to the Solano County Jail, where as of Sunday evening he was still in custody with an extradition order to Washington, according to jail records.

Good job LE! … prosecute to the full extent

He’s headed back to Washington state, where he was only in a community custody program, whatever the heck that is, for 10 counts of arson. It seems doubtful that they will prosecute to the full extent.

Too bad we’re sending him back to Washington. I would rather just deport this criminal and make him some other countries problem.

Last thing we need in California is another habitual fire-bug (we have PG&E for that job). Sounds like WA is into the “call a Social Worker” theory of correction & rehabilitation.

Quietly Washington gives Florida a run for
it’s money, skeevy people wise.
Said the guy in California. 🤪

Where were the demonstrators when he was taken into custody? I guess since he’s a legal citizen nobody cares.
