Concord police are investigating an apparent arson fire that scorched the middle of the football field at Mt. Diablo High School over the weekend. The blaze burned a large section of the artificial turf, leaving behind a large blackened patch in the center of the field. The damage will likely impact upcoming practices and games for school athletes as repairs are assessed. Crews are working with school officials to determine the extent of the repairs and cost of replacement. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them as the investigation continues.

Somebody’s gonna brag, somebody’s gonna tell. And they’re probably on 15 different cameras.

If it was natural turf. Would not have burned.

It would if you used fuel.

This is so heart breaking to see. Mount did a wonderful job getting there playing field done nice and some scum bag had to destroy it. I’m sure if it was some young kids it would be posted on some sort of social media or it’s a homeless person who lives on the freeway side by the baseball fields. Hope Mount can get the money soon to repair it.

We all know “who” did it. There was probably a sideshow, and smash and grab somewhere at Sunvalley beforehand as well. It’s in their nature.
