Contra Costa County Fire Protection District crews responded Tuesday to reports of two vehicles burning at an electric vehicle charging station in the Rossmoor Shopping Center parking lot near Tice Valley Boulevard and Rossmoor Parkway in Walnut Creek. Witnesses initially reported one vehicle on fire, but flames spread to a second vehicle parked at the adjacent charger. Thick smoke was visible from the area as firefighters worked to bring the situation under control. As of the latest update, batteries have been disconnected and power to the charging stations has been shut off. No injuries have been reported, and investigators will determine the cause of the fire.

I really don’t know about these Electric cars! Last week one on the freeway, caught fire after It hit something. A house down the street from us also caught fire when they were charging their car in the garage.

Yikes. Turning energy into mass
and mass into energy, can be tricky business.

Just think how bad it could have been if the car had been charging in the home garage. My first EV will be a mobility scooter when I’m too old to drive.

…. and their extra toxic smoke and fumes just negated any emissions savings for a long time or even the life of the vehicle

EVs You can’t afford NOT to buy one.

No gasoline was wasted in this highly symbolic hats-off to the EPA!

So that’s what zero emission looks like.

That is why I do not like all the charging stations near or in front of store entrances. Making life easier for EVs’ drivers is prioritized over the safety of all customers in the store…

And always people loitering in Safeway parking lot at all hours in the guise of “charging the car” it’s a crime waiting to happen.Safety be damned, gotta go green!!!!!

Not an EV fan but gas cars cook all the time. The rub here is they are pushing these things to charge faster and I think they are outrunning physics. The difference between the fires is a gas car catches fire slowly (still have burnt down many houses) so you can escape or extinguish and the EV is right now and water won’t help so the carbecue is inevitable.

yawn. And when is the last time this happened at a gas station? Its the same as selling you millions of cells phones and telling you it’s ok to drive with them, then they make it illegal and knew they were going to.Would they have sold so many if the truth was told from the start? That EV’s cause way more pollution and break down the pavement way quicker too.A lose lose for every citizen. Its just a money making scheme for a few then its over…now count your money.

Probably a computer equipment problem following a network upgrade.
