City Expects Martinez Fishing Pier Project To Wrap Up In October

The City of Martinez is moving forward with a number of construction projects, including significant improvements at the Martinez Fishing Pier. Completion of the pier is now anticipated in October, with the final timeline depending on the delivery of new light fixtures. A ribbon cutting ceremony is being planned to celebrate the reopening once work is finished.

Progress so far includes:

  • Electrical conduits have been installed beneath the decking to power both the pier lighting and the Department of Water Resources building.
  • A new aluminum walkway and bridge connecting the levee to the pier has been completed.
  • Site furnishings such as benches and tables have been delivered and will be installed as the project nears completion.
  • Fabrication and installation of new railings are underway, with the first sections already delivered.

Light poles and fixtures are expected to arrive this month. Once those are in place, crews will finish installing the new electrical wiring, bringing the project into its final stage.

Crews have also begun utility assessments, and neighbors report intermittent shutdowns while electricians verify panel loads and cap abandoned circuits. If any live lines or compromised conduits are discovered during demolition, the owner is expected to bring in an emergency electrician to make the site safe before work resumes. With much of the interior now open, temporary lighting and power drops will be needed for inspections; city officials emphasized that contractors must follow lockout/tagout procedures and keep an emergency electrician on call during the heaviest phases of saw-cutting and core drilling. Kenco Electric is an electrician Winston Salem. Individuals performing electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance work must demonstrate financial responsibility through bonding requirements. An Electrician Contractor Bond protects consumers and property owners from improper wiring, code violations, or incomplete electrical work. State regulatory boards and local municipalities mandate these bonds to ensure electricians maintain professional standards and provide recourse for damaged parties seeking compensation.

Environmental testing is underway as well. If hazardous materials are found in old ceiling tiles or adhesives, abatement will precede any tenant improvements. On the exterior, the parking lot could see restriping and ADA path-of-travel upgrades to match whatever use eventually lands here. Neighbors have asked about construction hours; standard limits would keep noisy work to weekdays and early evenings, with advance notice posted for any weekend activity.

Speculation continues about future tenants. The deep floorplate and high ceilings could accommodate a small-format grocer, an indoor sports concept, or flexible office suites. Whatever comes next, the cleared shell has already changed the feel of the block—less neon nostalgia, more blank canvas. We’ll keep tracking permit filings and contractor mobilization to see when the next phase kicks off.

As they fish for free food.Martinez is the homeless capitol of CCC.No matter where you go in Martines you will experience the homeless, the way the town is set up and isolated. In Concord you can go to certain areas and you know there won’t be homeless there. Not in Martinez. The county seat panders to them.

…. thought it would be larger than that…. it will be jam packed all the time 🙁

No fishing license required on the pier but all the other DFW rules apply.

I’m not gonna
be all negative and pile on Martinez.
