Claycord Online Museum – Smorgy Boys Restaurant In Concord’s Park-N-Shop

Look at those prices at the old Smorgy Boys restaurant in Concord’s Park-N-Shop shopping center on Willow Pass Rd.

The buffet was a hit for many families, for many years. Do you remember Smorgy Boys? (didn’t people also call it Smorgy Bobs?)

Good family memories here.

Remember it well. Went there many times. There was one or Perry Bros. in the Rossmoor shopping center in WC too. Went to both.

It was where our Family went out for a ‘Nice Dinner’ (LOL) twice a year.
Family of 5 kids, with my 3 brothers who were bottomless pits.
Perfect for my dad’s budget and a break for mom.
I liked the Beef Wellington.

Family would eat there all the time. Later, Smorgy Boys changed to Smorga Bob’s.

My dad was a flooring contractor and won the bid to install new flooring in the kitchen in 1972 or 73. There is always “something” (evidence of rodents, roaches ants) found when you demo everything including underlayment. But this was the first and only time he could scoop maggots with a coffee mug. Job delayed a few days while pros came in to deal with that. He never would eat there after that.

My Dad would take my sister and I there on Pay days. Loved that place.

I remember both names. My uncle running the whole clan over there, 6 adults and 7 kids. I remember it like it was yesterday. I recall the layout, the crawling under the table to get more food as a kid. No one would move while stuffing their face with the BEST fried chicken from that monster stair stepped lit display oven. It was a magical place and time. Off to Paddock Bowl next where they had the awesome kids playroom, until they didn’t. Anyone that remembers all that may have known my uncle, the late CCM William Galvan USAF. He played the organ for everyone at Sherman Clay in the mall.
