A bronze sacred item was stolen from the altar of a church in Concord last week but was recovered and the thief was taken into custody, police said Wednesday.
The theft occurred last Thursday at the Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Oak Grove Road. A 3-foot-tall, 30-pound monstrance was taken during the morning hours, according to Concord police.
Investigators eventually identified and located the suspect and recovered the monstrance at his home. It has since been returned to the church, and the suspect was arrested on suspicion of grand theft, police said. His name was not immediately available.

If you’re like me and didn’t know what a monstrance is,

and nothing else, you still have a Catholic Church.
It’s apparently that important.
Yes, indeed.
