Okra, the awful green stuff with the ooey, gooie, slime that tastes like a decaying bag of cut grass the gardener forgot to dump…. the stuff children’s nightmares are made of.
Well…. I don’t knock anyone for liking it, I just personally can’t stand the stuff, tho it is eaten all over the world.
I would like to point out tho, that all those methods of cooking it or adding ingredients to compliment it could also work with dog or cat turds.
Ditto on the NO-okra! I generally get along fine with green food… but the only time I tried okra, OMG!.. The okra was hiding in an otherwise delicious gumbo —
I bit into it, and that thing shot a wad of slime into the back of my throat — I thought I’d die right there! I spit so fast, I couldn’t tell you what it tasted like! I was certain a slug had crawled up in there and …… You know … the embarrassment ….
My experience was similar…. I really, REALLY do not like okra!
If you look on Youtube there are about 100 recipe videos about how to try to remove the SLIME from okra…. you might as well be cooking banana slugs.
Raisins can be deadly for dogs, also onions, garlic, pecans, macadamia nuts and alot of other foods can make them sick.
When in doubt check it out!

Sour cream and onion chips; all other chips; ranch dip; I have no willpower!
I suppose if you blended them into a shake, a rather disgusting shake. I love both sprouts and cauliflower, but liver? No thank you.

Canned green beans. Probably partly because I could never leave the dinner table as a kid until I finished them all, yuk!! So, as an an adult, I got fresh ones and steamed them yum!!
This happened to me also as a kid. Sneakily I’d wrap them in my napkin when my parents weren’t looking. I’d then go “im done”, then take my plate over to where they were doing dishes and then throw my napkin in the garbage. I bet they really knew what I was doing…. miss you mom and dad.
We have a pantry with some canned veggies, freeze-dried foods, beans, meats, etc.
Just in case for emergency, like earthquakes or major power-outages.
Sometimes we pull from there and can create a meal short notice.
We rotate the stock then donate food to the food bank with 4 months before the use-by date.

Beans.
I couldn’t leave the dinner tabe to “build my fort” which was the dining room table. I’d cover it
with a blanket, and my brother and I would build an erector set and have a meeting. 😊😊

If I had to ban a food, not could but had to, I would probably ban oysters, the Rocky Mountain kind. Never had ’em, just one of the many organs I have no interest in eating.
Atticus Thraxx,
.
Rocky Mountain Oysters or Mountain Oysters are the testicles of bulls and calves. I prefer calf oysters because they’re not as tough as bull oysters. I don’t like bull meat at all because it’s too tough due to testosterone, which is why we remove the testicles of calves, thereby making them steers.

I guess I’m not a banning kind of guy
But if I never saw another
Brussels sprout again in my life
I wouldn’t be mad.

You mean spinach? I love spinach! 🤣
No, I love spinach too!
Interesting that you picked Okra. We are growing it and have it every day for the season.
Great sautéed with zucchini and onion in scrabbed eggs, … even add a bit of cheese.
Or okra with fresh chopped tomatoes cooked and tossed with pasta. Or in a beef stew.
But we do know a lot of people don’t like it and some that do.
Just post more to share what / how okra can be used.

a must for jambalaya
I wouldn’t want to ban one food item forever. Taste is subjective, any food I find
disgusting, another will find it to be delightful.
The despicable raisin, obviously.

Eating Rocky Mountain Oysters is fun!
Try it… you’ll have a ball.
Dr. Jellyfinger,
.
Calf oysters are much better than bull oysters.
Ok I’ll bite, what’s a calf oyster BK?
Knowing full well I’ll regret asking.
