I just bought a new hat with a built-in fan for hot weather.
It really blows my mind!

A libretto is essentially the screenplay for an opera
most of the time the libretto is written first
and a composer would add the music.
Wagner famously, or infamously depending
on your tolerance for fascists, wrote his own
librettos to his own music( may have been a polymath)
But that’s not what I wanted to share.
The Marriage of Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro) is a
four act opera written by Mozart and is probably
one of his most famous compositions
with an exceptional libretto by a guy named Da Ponte,
It’s told from the perspective of two servants
Susanna and Figaro, who employ various
machinations(mostly Susanna) to avoid the perverted
attentions of the count. Anyway they do get married
and Mozart wrote some most beautiful music to accompany.
The plot is long and complex and arguably
amusing at times. Arguably.

Every weekday morning at work I tune into KDFC at 9AM to hear Mozart in the Morning.
It is a splendid way to begin a day.
Nice!
Different area code, but I get Italian Opera on
Sunday mornings. Last Sunday was Verdi
which didn’t really bump my needle
Tomorrow is early Puccini, hopefully Le boheme,
wanna get some housework done. 🎻
while it’s cool.
They have welfare bums in England too!

Lots of people lining up in the street outside BevMo on Main Street, waiting for Steph Curry to autograph one of his bottels of whiskey.
I’ve yet to try a celebrity whisky that
wasn’t dumpster juice.
Maybe this’ll buck the trend. 🤷♂️
I hope it does, Atticus.
Curry seems like a decent fellow and I wish him well. And his whiskey, too.
I just don’t understand the idolatry.
BTW, the ‘E’ in whiskey stands for ‘English’ – a Scotsman spells it whisky, so thank you for that!
I’ll bet the whiskey is out of this world…. I believe Steph is too.
No human being could possibly be as talented and almost super humanly athletic as he is… just incredible!
I spent a day and most of a night in the Glasgow airport
back in the 80’s trying to get home from Frankfurt/Gatwick
but the single de-icing truck they had was inop.
Point being I made such good friends with a bar tender
when he came back for his shift the next day
he brought me hot sausage and eggs his wife made
best damn sausage and eggs I ever had.
I slept on a rubber matt behind a ticket counter
so any kindness was delightful.
Anyway I got the complete history of the only
true and proper rebellion against the Brits.
At least I think I did, could only understand
the first and last word of every sentence.
A lovely people and I would fight alongside them
any day, based on that single experience.
He even told me about the nine of diamonds.
Side note, he told me a lot of Scotts secretly
prefer Irish whisky, but they have to sneak it.
I love that.
Atticus… you’ve given me inspiration to plagiarize a song!

back when I wasn’t old
I was trying to get home from Germany
but the weather was too damn cold
I had to sleep at the airport
I got fed by a friend…. oh Lord!
Stuck in Frankfurt again.

The Goodwill drop off on Chestnut is a disaster, they guide traffic into on coming lanes, cars making u-turns and y-turns, causing vehicles to cross double yellow lines, horns honking , people yelling at each other, fun times
Question about tipping:
Why does the Tip Percentage increase when menu prices are rising faster than Inflation?
Should it not go down?
Do you deduct the “Mandates” from the tip?
By Mandates do you mean taxes? If so – then yes.
the “mandates” are mostly in SF now, it’s acessments for heath insurance, sick leave, ect. I figure they contribute to the total pay the server recieves so I deduct them as part of the tip. I suspect they will become more prevalent or flat rate “Service Charges”. All of the Euro Zone has embraced “15% Service Charges”. Non Euro Zone, i.e. Hungary, are extremely happy with a 10% Tip W/O Service Charge.
Plus you never tip on the Tax.
What about tipping in advance for deliveries? I cannot see into the future to assess your service. Tips are for good service. Asking me for more money before I have even been served is beyond the realms of service reality.
I used to not mind, even if it was a simple pick-up from an order. I always figured if you don’t ask, you won’t get, and I remember being in a financial situation where even a couple bucks was nice. However, the past couple years, it has now reached the point where I too have negative impressions of this, in part because the cost of everything is so high and getting higher, that in total, I just do not want to go out for anything.
There is still NO charge for “to go” bags/ boxes, which is more than I can say for the price gouging grocery stores.
Isn’t it the law that vehicles are supposed to pull to the side of the road and stop when a firetruck or any emergency vehicle travelling in the same direction? As I was leaving the Grocery Outlet this afternoon and driving north on Willow Pass, a firetruck is traveling south on Willow Pass, there’s van in the same lane, the firetruck has lights blazing and sirens on, it took the van a good 30 seconds to get out of the way, and it didn’t not stop just slowly pull a lane over and proceed. on.
Fire trucks also blast their horns when entering an intersection, but some people are
too wrapped up in themselves and have their music too loud to hear them, and a lot of
newer cars are more soundproof than their predecessors. It’s not much different than the
pedestrians who cross the street with earbuds, looking down at their phones, and are
oblivious to their surroundings. They seem to stumble through life, relying on dumb luck
as a principle of survival.
Totally agree, I can’t tell how many pedestrians I see at Sun Valley Mall just stepping off the curb, looking neither right nor left for traffic. I’m surprised there’s not more accidents of pedestrians getting hit by cars due to their self absortion.

After 72 hours of bone breaking spasms, incredible pain
and misery
the spider finally died. 😇
Who is in charge of earthquakes?
Is it God, Mother Nature …. or who?
In any case I want to formally complain about quakes being scheduled to occur in the wee hours of the morning, it was almost 3 AM when the 4.6 hit us this morning & woke everyone up…including the dog.
I need my sleep… Geez! 3 PM would be a lot more reasonable.
What kind of a planet are you deities running here?
I’m in charge, shake, rattle and roll style. The gift card is “in the mail.” It’s a Visa, Mastercard, Discover or Amex. Sorry for the interruption…

The elder kept calling Bonham that repeatedly
so I looked it up. Pretty cool if Zeppelin appreciation
makes you happy.

Was there a mild earthquake earlier this am?
If there was it was less than a 2.5 because the USGS website didn’t list any quakes around here and they list everything stronger than magnitude 2.5
You can find the “NorCal Earthquakes” in the Quick Links column on the Claycord Header.
