The East Bay Regional Park District has finished a three-year project to reduce wildfire risks across 667 acres at Anthony Chabot Regional Park. Crews removed dead and dying eucalyptus trees and brush using a climate-friendly carbonizer that produces low-emission biochar to improve soil health. The $12.5 million effort – the first of its kind in California — was funded by state, federal, and local sources, including support from former state senators Nancy Skinner and Bob Wieckowski, U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla, and the California Coastal Conservancy. Assistant Fire Chief Khari Helae said the work was critical after extreme drought caused widespread tree die-off. “We can’t prevent all ignitions, but we can lower fire intensity by reducing fuels,” he said. The Park District plans more fuels reduction at Tilden, Claremont Canyon, and Leona Canyon, alongside grazing and year-round vegetation management.
City of WC (and others) should take note…. the “gasoline trees” (per the CCC Fire Dept on Treat) – said the eucalyptus trees along the CCC Trail on city property in the Boundary Oaks golf course are a disaster waiting to happen should there be a fire… Diablo winds would carry the ashes and embers al over the homes along side the canal … for 3 yrs the city said it has a “plan” for removal – in 3 yrs they haven’t removed 1 tree! They are a safety hazard as well as they fall down and endanger walkers and bikers on the trail… especially in the winter wen the ground is saturated. Large branches break off and fall over the fence onto the trail every year as well. City of Oakland, Berkeley and others have been removing them for a few years now – when will WC? when it’s too late?

Our moron leaders just laughed. They are also cleaning up in the Lassen and plumas forests. Guess he spoke the truth.

Dude, where you been? Israel showed off their space lasers years ago. I’m not sure if they are jewish or catholic. Probably just machines, they aren’t usually religious.
