BART has now installed the Next Generation Fare Gates at all 50 stations. The new gates were budgeted to cost around $90M, but BART says the new gates will prevent fare evaders, which previously cost the system about $25M annually. Politicians will be on hand today at BART to take pictures and pretend they did the work to install the gates.
Which should have been done 20 yrs ago…. now what’s it going to take to get the station agents off their chairs to help people and further cut down on fare evaders?
Forget it they are much worse than the old fairgates because the gate Invaders knows the way to get in by walking behind the passengers at the tailgating in order to get in and also in order to get out it’s much worse than the older fairgate
