What’s a “workweek”? Anything more than a 50 hour a day week is counterproductive. In the tech industry we had workers who thought the office was a monastery and the more time they spent there somehow the more they are valuable. Actually the real valuable people were the ones who finished their project in less than the time allotted.
.
Workweeks are the product of the “industrial age” and out of fashion. Megalomaniac senior managers are delusional enough to believe they are “gods” and make stupid decisions but the like to see their slaves working long and hard. Hard to deal with the remnants of that bizarre age. We’re in the “new dystopia” now. 🙄
LOL! I guess the “serfs” love to work! The first sentence in my comment tells you something. I have worked “remote” for most of my life except for music performance and recordings. Exception was a few years when I went to the office because I was a “boss”. Fortunately “the office” wasn’t that far away. In fact I could have walked to it. Besides that job was fun not drudgery.

4 days longer days – especially because most salaried people work 10 hrs a day anyway… this will bring parity to their salary / hour

5 day work week with the standard hours lets parents have some time with their kids during the week.
So selfishly, yeah, a 4 day work week.
To me this just shows that a company, if they want, should provide a choice. Some folks work 24 hour shift, with 48 hours off, some work a 3 day work week with 4 days off and then 4 days work and 3 days off, some work 9 days @ 9 hours, some work 4 @ 10hours …
People need to find something that works for them.

In my last “regular job” I commuted from Clayton to Mountain View and we were given the option of a regular 5 day 8 hours, 4 day 10 hours or 4 days at 9 hours and every other Friday with 8 hours and the alternate Friday off. I took the last one, as 10 hour days withe the brutal commute (typically about 1:20 in the morning and 2 hours in the evening) made 10 hour days much harder than 9 hours. It was also nice having a 3 day weekend every other week too. Of course, if necessary, we worked when needed.

Four day work week! The proof that it might help the economy – every time I’ve went out to dinner on a Sunday of a 3 day / Holiday weekend the restaurants are always packed.

I’m retired now. I would have LOVED four tens!
