Guadalajara Grill On Ygnacio Valley Rd In Concord Closing? Restaurant Says “No,” Property Manager Says Building Will Be Available For Lease In March 2026

Is Guadalajara Grill in Concord closing after almost 40 years in the Clayton Valley Shopping Center? It depends on who you ask. We asked the restaurant, and they said they aren’t closing, but Regency Centers, the property manager, says the Guadalajara Grill building will be available for lease starting in March 2026. They even have photos on their website. Guess we’ll have to wait and see. Hopefully they’ll just move to another location.

They were good when they were a small place on the other end of the shopping center. Then they moved to the large space and went downhill.

Maybe you should try it before you trash it. Food’s great! Prices & service great. If you don’t know firsthand, comments should be kept to yourself. 😉

The food is not as good as when it was in the original location, but it’s better than a lot of other
local places. The service was lacking for a bit, but has gotten better again recently.
The prices have gone up, the portions have gone down slightly.
There was a female waiter (waitress?) who never wrote anything down and always got our orders wrong.
we were very happy to find out she left.

I have been there several times but not recently because the high prices, food quality and poor service. So trash it I will! 😉

Food quality went way downhill when they moved into this building. I haven’t eaten there for a few years as it just wasnt good anymore and not worth the money.

Been eating there for 30 years. Go there every week, about the only place we tip 20%. Food is always good, service and other employees as well and margaritas really good

The food is not trash, but all the fast food places all down Clayton Rd is.

Food always tastes better after a couple of margaritas.

“About the only place we tip 20%?????????????!!!!!!!!!” Oh, dear. This is 2025. I haven’t seen anyone tip less in at least a decade!

As prices go up, tips go down. Standard is 15%, adjust per service and attitude.

Have to earn that tip, the tipping culture is put of control!

Food and service used to be good – went downhill quickly unfortunately.. if they just move maybe they can “tune up” the menu and staff….. good place for an Olive Garden! 🙂

Years ago it was pretty decent, even when they moved to the current location.
Then they closed the bar end of the restaurant, and the food went downhill quickly.
I just don’t care for Americanized Mexican food any longer.
When I want Mexican, I go to Los Portalas Mex. food in the Denkinger Safeway shopping center.
The food and staff are great, although it’s not a sit down and order family style restaurant.
You order at the counter then grab a table, I like that better though.

Diversity brings with it, culture wars 🤣

To me someone who has been going here over 30 years this would be a tremendous loss hope they can find a good place would hear to lose it

I agree, it would be a loss to the shopping center. I 1st went there 1987? A good lunch back then was around 5$ or a bit more. Their location was facing Ygnacio Rd then. The best place to eat! Now same great food, and prices have gone up with the times since they moved into that new big building in that shopping center. Every dinner plate is a large FIESTA oval colored platter, (dishes made by Homer Laughlin in the USA). ( Not Chinese cr—) A huge platter, great food on it, and every platter is a different Fiesta color. Service has always been great, and the food is still great for the $. Those chains-like Olive garden–NO THANKS!!

the property management over the last 5 or so years has been pushing long standing businesses out by not coming to new rental agreements that the businesses can actually agree on. so it very much can be that they have every intention of staying but the leasing building management has every intention of pushing them out. (a business who has been pushed out and was close to 3 other businesses that could not come to an agreement because leasing office is now asking far too much and wanting “fresh” businesses in)

So, the building will be available early next year. Maybe a good mexican restaurant could move in!

We already have more than enough Mexican food choices just in a mile radius no more needed…

They are a great Mexican restaurant. They are always busy, always great food and service. There are only a few restaurants that have lasted more than 30 yrs in that area, and they are one of the few. Regency will be making a big mistake letting them go. I used to go there for lunch 1987 when their location was facing Ygnacio Valley Rd in the shopping center. Chain restaurants don’t seem to last that long in any location.

It was called Marina Del Sol’s and owned by another owner back in 1987

I checked with a Friend at Regency. Their Lease is up and Regency is not going to renew it. They can move elsewhere, but they have to leave.

Mexican food by Sysco.

Actually surprised it has lasted this long. It was much better when it was Marina Del Sols a long time ago.

This place was used to be a great spot. Quality and quantity of food went to the pooper big time. Never went back after it was $16.99 for 3 taquitos………………..See ya

I moved next door in 1993 and they were in the shopping center then, but in another building on the other side. I ate there years ago, but have no money to eat out now due to exorbitant prices and then the expectation of big tips on top of that.

The food tastes like regret wrapped in a tortilla, and the ambiance feels like a waiting room that gave up on its dreams

Guadalajara is one of the very few restaurants that leaves their kitchen door open for anybody to walk in and look at how they’re preparing their food and if you’re going to be seated you walk right by that door and can look in.
You ever wonder why all these great restaurants people seem to love and the food taste great the food is always prepared behind closed doors and there’s a reason for that if you saw how Olive Garden was preparing their food in they’re hidden from public view kitchens you would never eat there.
