Contra Costa County is looking for residents to help shape policy on hazardous materials and waste. The county’s Hazardous Materials Commission announced it is seeking applicants for one environmental justice representative seat and one alternate seat. The 14-member panel advises the Board of Supervisors and county staff on issues ranging from hazardous waste to community health risks. Ideal candidates should live in Contra Costa communities affected by hazardous materials, represent community interests, and be committed to environmental justice, county officials said. Members serve four-year terms and meet monthly. Applications are due by Nov. 3, and must be received — not just postmarked — at the Clerk of the Board’s office at 1025 Escobar St., Martinez. Interviews for qualified applicants are set for Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon. More information is available by contacting Adam Springer, staff to the commission, at (925) 655-3216 or Adam.Springer@cchealth.org. Applications can also be submitted online at https://www.contracosta.ca.gov/3418/Appointed-Bodies-Committees-Commissions.
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors doesn’t want a diversity of thought on the Contra Costa County Hazardous Materials Commission, they only want those individuals who think as they do. The Concord City Council thinks the same way when it comes to appointing individuals to boards, commissions, and councils. Then the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors and the Concord City Council wonder why things never change.
So what you are saying is that a
straight
white
christian
conservative
male
need not apply.
Unless they show up looking like Corporal Max Klinger.
That would check most of the boxes.
They’re wanting an ear from the public so they can check off the box saying they had citizen input – and then do what they want… just like 95% of city & county commissions
affected by hazardous materials – Yes, I breath the air. , represent community interests – I’m here, I represent, and be committed to environmental justice – Yes, Justice for all!, Is there a Stipend?

Sounds like the same ruse used by Gavin and his boys in Sac.
I wish the board would shutdown, and quit wasting tax money.
