I blame politics.
That and climate change.

TRUMP. He needs to listen to the people and not think he knows it all most of the time.
Bring Medi Cal back the way it wa and just weed out the illegals that are abusing it. He needs to protect his own people that are struggling. NOT EVERYONE HAS HIS GRANDIOUS MEDICAL CARE!
I have agreed on most of his issues, but not this one.
I Thought Melania was trying to protect the children, must be for show,

Aunt Barbara,
.
The State of California, its 58 counties, and each city are free to fund Medi-Cal for their citizens or create identical or similar programs themselves, funding doesn’t have to come from the federal government to fund these programs.

Watch the video and decide for yourself.
Vice President J.D. Vance explains the shutdown, and answers questions.

Don’t care

This is what’s responsible for the shutdown. The Dems want to give free healthcare to
illegal invaders.

The Schumer Shutdown?
Hmmmm ….. let me think….

40
18

The Democrats are to blame, as usual. They want to fund all sorts of ridiculous stuff, like trans surgery for young kids, prisoners, and want to give free healthcare to illegal aliens. They are holding the government hostage to push their communist agendas.

50
26

Lol. If you think the government shut down is about surgury for trans kids you are beyond help. And Health care should be free for everyone anyway anyway….We all deserve free or at least affordable healthcare.

There Ain’t No Such Thing As Free Lunch…. or medical care. TANSTAFL (Robert Heinlein)

@ Neighbor ~ Why?
Health care starts with a person doing good for their health.
Plus, like The Black Knight posted, it doesn’t have to come from the federal government.

Where do you think the money comes for all this “free” stuff?

19

Taxpayers, Of Course!

10

Just who will pay for healthcare for all? You probably complain that you are taxed too much already. There is no such thing as affordable healthcare. Another misnomer the dumbocrats pushed on us.

“According to the California Department of Finance, the State of California will
spend more than $8.4 billion on taxpayer-funded Medicaid health benefits for
illegal aliens this fiscal year, over $5 billion more than initially estimated.”

Information is out there IF you are willing to look for it.
TOO Many people rely on soundbites delivered to them on their mobile devices.

“The receptivity of the masses is very limited, their intelligence is small,
but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts,
all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must
harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands
what you want him to understand by your slogan”
.
An instruction sheet for democrats ? ? ? ? ?

YOU, . . . . . had to ask . . . . .
.
Unfortunately for “them”. Trump is not a politician nor is he a long time
swamp creature.
democrats have list of “non negotiable” demands. . . . . YAWN
.
Sit back, watch all the usual mirror worshipers elbow each
other for free TV face time. Mad-xine has already come forward
in her usual timid, respectful way . . . . . . .

Naw, probably wouldn’t work,
unplug the senate,
wait 5 minutes,
plug it back in.

Trump took $26 billion in expected funding for fiscal year 2025 that Congress approved and the President signed into law in March,

Republican congress’ simple bill is the same “big beautiful bill” with more tax cuts for the wealthy and cuts to Medicare and the ACA to help pay for those tax cuts.

The Republicans seem to forget how slime a majority they have in congress and don’t care what 49% of our country wants.

Your wording is inflammatory and suggestive, and wrong. Trump did not take 26B, he FROZE the money. Take implies that he stole it for his personal use; whereas Froze means he just stopped paying for stuff. You ae trying to sell a narrative to the uniformed TDS suffering members of the community …

What did freeze, 18B from NY for a transit projects, 8B in green projects across Democratic states. Yes, he is using the shutdown to punish Democratic states. Why shouldn’t he, when the Democrats are punishing Americans by forcing the shutdown to occur? Democrats want money for expanded health care – even if you do not believe illegals are getting free health care, then explain where this expanded money would go? The Democrats want money for public news agencies, why should the government be sponsoring a new agency …

Will my health care go up under the Republican bill, unsure. Some folks say yes, my current employer says no, others say they do not know yet.

Do you know for sure and can you provide a legitmate source document?

Change the channel.

Okay, Trump froze $26 billion. Then he pledged $20 billion to Argentina. Insurance companies already announced rates to rise. Anthem Blue Shield announce their rates to triple. I did not bookmark the article but it was main stream with a photo of Blue Shields rate hike.

I hope there is follow up to the threat that the shutdown will allow the elimination of several thousand/tens of thousands of positions. I hope those typically weak spined Republicans hold their ground (sounds like it). It was still discouraging to hear Speaker Johnson explaining how “difficult” the shutdown is; he should have been more like, “Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries have opted to show the nation how unnecessary all the “nonessential” government bureaucracies are by refusing to fund them.” I cannot blame anyone, because I think we need more of these shutdowns. Of course, dimwit cortez threw in the “children are dying” line, that juvenile claim…

Trump gets off on firing people.

5
12

I would too in reference to many (most?) federal employees just feeding at the trough of excessive taxation.

9

Promises made, promises kept!

6
3

that is irrelevant to me, whether he enjoys it or not. Reduction in size of the behemoth government can only be a good thing. I’ve lost 2 or 3 jobs (not fired, but company/position terminated). It happens all the time, to productive people, so while not feeling joy, I do feel some satisfaction knowing that some taxpayer money will not be pished away by bureaucrats. Too bad he can’t fire that waste of oxygen, lying piece of bull excrement senator from down LA way.

Politics as usual.

Politicians.

Any Senator who voted against the continuing resolution is to blame. All Dem Senators voted against it.
All Rep Senators voted for it.
Seems pretty obvious who is to blame.

This stunt will backfire so badly on Schumer. Try to look tough against Trump to please your whacko base is career suicide. Is Gavin paying attention?

15
2

100% of the blame is on the illegals!

4
2

Without a doubt,

DONALD J TRUMP.

Yes!
If Trump hadn’t vetoed the continuing resolution, then the government would still be running!

Oh, wait!
Nevermind!
