A group of seven suspects was arrested early Sunday morning after a smash-and-grab burglary and brief police chase at Sunvalley Mall in Concord, according to police. Around 3:52 a.m. on October 5, Concord police dispatchers received a call from mall security reporting a large group of people breaking through glass doors to get inside the mall. Officers arrived within minutes and spotted the suspects as they were running out. Four suspects jumped into a vehicle and sped away, leading officers on a short pursuit that ended when the driver lost control and crashed. Police said the driver ran from the scene but was later found hiding in nearby bushes. The three passengers who stayed in the vehicle were immediately arrested.
Three more suspects who had remained at the mall were also taken into custody. One of them was carrying a firearm that had been illegally modified into an assault weapon, police said. All seven suspects, six male juveniles from San Pablo and Richmond, and 18-year-old Marcos Ramirez-Castro of Richmond were booked into custody. The juveniles were taken to Contra Costa County Juvenile Hall, while Ramirez-Castro was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. No injuries were reported in the crash. Police said there are no outstanding suspects, and all seven are facing multiple charges related to the burglary and pursuit.

I was down here by sunvalley recently, was hoping to see a smash n grab at the mall. Why dont they just turn all malls into something else? Malls are extinct. People buy stuff on amazon now. Malls are only good for seniors to go on walks or thief’s to steal merchandise.
Still a better use of space and tax dollars than housing illegals or just moving the homeless around and pocketing the cash or enabling some scumbag criminal to sell their stolen goods on Ebay. I would rather have a safe place to walk as somebody who has already done their job paying taxation into the community and being a good member you know raising a family not robbing or stealing and I most definitely don’t give a crap about anyone’s convience of shopping on Amazon.
