Sunny skies and warm temperatures early this week will give way to a cool-down and potentially some light rain just in time for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Inland areas of the East Bay, like Livermore and Concord, are expecting upper 80s and lower 90s on Tuesday.
San Francisco could top out in the mid- to upper-80s in the southeast neighborhoods, like the Mission and Bayview districts.
The potential for elevated fire risks will remain low, however, as a result of the light rains that moved through the region over the past couple of weeks, Gass said.
On Wednesday, things will begin to cool off as onshore winds increase due to a low-pressure system that’s expected to approach the Pacific Northwest coast.
“That will be our potential rainmaker from Friday into Saturday,” Gass said. “There’s still a lot of uncertainty in the amount of rainfall and if we’re going to get any at all, but the cool-down is going to occur and the humidity values will go up.”
Cool breezes and overcast skies will drop maximum temperatures away from the coast into the 70s on Wednesday, and into the upper-60s and low-70s on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Coastal temperatures will range from the upper-50s to low-60s.
“There’s some rain chances later this week, but we’ve turned it down as far as the amount,” Gass said. “I think the North Bay has the greatest potential and it’s less likely as you get into the core of the Bay Area and points southward will probably remain dry.”
We used to call it, Indian summer.
“… Waaaccissttt!” ~~~It’s a Seasonal Hemispheric Anomaly now… 😉
Yes, Indian Summer. Back in 1977, Oct. 22nd, on our Wedding Day, it was 103!!
Dawg, yes the term mostly related as you probably know, to San Francisco weather in October.
Climate Crisis!!! says people trying to profit. Warm autumn days are nice and we’ve had them for decades+. Enjoy!
I need rain. I have to re-seed the lawn after one of our woodland friends (Racoon) tore it up. He has since been been put into the Racoon Relocation Program.
I moved to California for warmer weather including winter. About time. 😎
