One person has been detained following a shooting Thursday afternoon on eastbound Highway 24 in Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Three vehicles were hit but no one was injured in the shooting, which was reported about 3:45 p.m. on the highway west of Old Tunnel Road.

After a car was hit by gunfire from a passing vehicle, 911 callers gave authorities a description of the suspect’s vehicle as it continued on eastbound 24 into Contra Costa County, the CHP said.

Shortly after 4 p.m., the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a center divide on Interstate Highway 680 near Olympic Boulevard in Walnut Creek. The suspect was detained without incident, according to the CHP.
