The Water Cooler – If Your Workplace (Either Home or In-Office) Could Get One New Perk For Free – Anything From Unlimited Snacks To A Four-Day Workweek – What Would You Pick And Why?
QUESTION: If your workplace (either home or in-office) could get one new perk for free – anything from unlimited snacks to a four-day workweek – what would you pick and why?
Free (or steeply discounted) medical, dental and vision for life…. great retention perk for obvious reasons – also – have you tried to paddle your way through the SSA, Medicare, etc. mess? A nightmare…

Free max out of 401(k). As I get older though then I’d probably change it to free medical, dental and vision benefits

Unlimited use of the company credit card and my own private 70 foot yacht. It must come
with a French or Italian chef, four or five stewardesses and a well stocked galley with all
my favorite foods and beverages.
Office parties like they had in that “The Wolf of Wall Street” movie.
I’d show up for those.

When I started at Macy’s if you didn’t like your shift or wanted to get rid of one you had to talk to a manager. If you wanted extra shifts you could go on the computer, and it would show shifts available for pick up. Then not long after that you could go on the computer and advertise your shift, or swap either time or date. Then when someone pick-up your shift you would be notified. It worked great and about 90 percent of the time someone pick up or swapped your shift. About a year or more ago they went back to the old model, can’t even pick up a shift, you have to talk to a manager. When I first started with Macy’s in Palo Alto I was part time, and so I would pick up as many shifts as possible, even after I became full time I would pick up a shift, often worked 6 days, I was working towards a financial goal, which I reached. Now I work about 24-28 hours a week. During the upcoming Holidays I will try to get extra shifts if my back is not acting up. Shooting to retire next summer. I much preferred when you could just go on the computer about your schedule instead of relying on a manager, although managers are pretty good about working with you.

Dawg, Good imagination. You know how to dream. Doesn’t cost anything to dream.
No state income taxes
That is not something a company can provide.
