This must be our October surprise.

just had some fantastic mashed potatoes and meatloaf for dinner… enjoy the simple things

17

At today’s prices those things are not so simple as they used to be. Yummmmm

I’m getting really tired of this inflation farce they’re pulling on us. I did see a video awhile back of a meeting of US CEOs who were encouraged to raise prices for no good reason. The bad reason was to crush the will of the public so they can bankrupt and control us. Can’t we to see their karma when the time comes. These “leaders” must have slept through their world history classes.

This sent me on a venture to renew my understanding of Farm Subsidies (USDA tells farmer ‘Do not grow anything on your south 40 for 5 years, and we’ll pay you in cash ~plus a dozen other, more subtle financial methods~ for your loss of income.’

But one of those underlined reference links and my ADHD took me to a long road of study of Salmonella! (yuck, etc)
Did you know USDA-FSIS (food safety inspection service) labels raw chicken as “inspected and safe” even though it was found to be loaded with Salmonella? But if ground beef is found to have a little bit of Salmonella, it MUST be recalled?
Ask me why!!!! 😉
I should write a book!
Reading the scientific literature that is designed for scientist-type-brains… shocking maybe, but not actually fun for the rest of us.
And, I’d bet half of the thousands of employees at FDA/USDA are more inclined to be on the slow-brain side ~ like me!

And they’re talking another “bird flu”. Oh joy. 😡

Something they did not think of last time for bird flu.

Haha! They know the source of the bird flu, the water. Particularly the chlorinated water. The birds do better on pond water. The was determined my university researchers and chicken farmers noticed that some of the flock would not touch the water in the troughs and drink from ponds.

Should have been:
“This was determined by university researchers”
I’m sure folks got it but typos there where I think one thing and my fingers do another. Bet others here have the same problem too. I liked it back when we could come back and correct posts but I’m sure that presented some problems during the tone of the time.

I hate it when I fat-finger a post, and I really feel the need to go back and fix it. Having an edit function would be great if there was a way to view the changed comments. Otherwise, a troll could post “I hate mom and apple pie,” but when they got ratioed, they could change it to “I hate mosquitos,” and complain that they were the victims of online bullies.

I proof read everything twice before I post and still screw it up sometimes.

It didn’t matter anyway because Joe Biden ordered the killing of over 100 million chickens (that’s why a whole chicken costs about $11 these days).

Allowing for price gouging at grocery store, and assuming you already have eggs, onions & bread crumbs and just use what you need… it costs about $10 to make a 1lb. meatloaf (not including energy cost for oven).

I learned today that there are ZERO bridges over the Amazon River. There are 3 decent reasons, but still, it really surprised me.

What about the Trans Brazilian Highway? No highway? Then they don’t need a bridge.
Did you know the Amazon passes thru 9 countries?
In every one of those countries if people want to cross the river they go by boat or ferry.

While in in Brazil teaching native tribesman the English language we paddled a canoe down the Amazon River. “This is a river, this is a forest, these are the trees I told them.

Rounding a bend in the river we saw a couple making love on the beach…. I dodged the translation by telling them um uh ….”They are riding a bicycle.”
One of the native students picked up his bow and shot a poison arrow into the back of the guy on the beach.
I screamed “ What are you doing?!?”
and he said “He rides my bicycle.”

Made me laugh.

Maybe no bridges over the Amazon, but there is a BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS. Just ask Simon and Garfunkel.

Just saw on the news Diane Keaton had died, just a week or so after Robert Redford. Saw many of their movies, Butch Cassidy, The Sting, The way we were, Out of Africa and All the President’s Men, all great movie with Robert Redford. Diane Keaton Annie Hall, Reds, Baby Boom, The Godfather movie’s, Shoot the Moon, the last one I think one of the best movie’s about divorce, in my opinion.
Both will be missed.

I remember reading that she had a bout with skin cancer when she was younger, and that’s
why she always wore a hat, to protect her from the Sun.
She wasn’t a fake Hollywood type, she was herself and aged gracefully.

Diane Keaton, a versatile and talented actress. RIP

How many of your kids know what to do ? ? ?

When my daughter was 12 she saw a young girl, about five, floating face down in a pool,
she jumped in and pulled the girl out and gave her mouth-to-mouth and chest compressions.
The girl survived, when the EMT arrived they asked my daughter how she knew what to do,
she said, from watching TV.

That is awesome!

Signs of a stroke, LoL!

Years back Son in Texas had a stroke while driving, he did NOT symptoms.
Pulled over, phoned Wife. Delay made a difference in his recovery. Even
today still has some problems.

Yes, it’s a serious matter… but the link you posted was definitely humorous.

They should bring CPR classes back to schools. Or at least teach your kids at a young age.

I love all the PG&E commercials promising not to raise our rates next year….. but the year after that LOOK OUT!
PG&E is going to offer us a sneak preview and a chance for consumers to uselessly point out all the reasons rates should not go up (but they will anyway).
