The Water Cooler – Will The Middle East Finally See Peace, Or Is It Just A Pause Between Conflicts?

QUESTION: Do you think the recent Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement, or any new Middle East peace deal, can actually lead to a lasting peace, or is it just a pause between conflicts?

It’s just a pause – and not much of one at that…. this whole “peace plan” will never come to 100% fruition… Hamas will not disarm – they’ve said that repeatedly …. any bets I’m wrong?

What’s the saying, … ‘Never say Never’.
There is always a chance, things can go haywire again.

They have been close to peace so several times, but lost minute someone chicken out, usually on the Palestinian side. It is mostly up to Hamas, and they can’t be trusted, Netanyahu over-reacts at times, but majority of the blame for his is on Hamas, they started it. What I see differently this time is that Israel have killed off a lot of Hamas leaders, and will kill more if the war continues, so for self-preservation they should agree to the terms of this agreement, but they are fanatics, and would rather be martyrs (in some people’s eyes) than live.

Pause
Some will never accept Israel and want
them erased from earth.

Democrats would be praying for war right now (but they don’t believe in prayer) so they’re just hoping really hard for “No Peace/No Credit Given to Trump” that’s the most important thing (to them).
Don’t bother denying it Lefties… everybody knows.
I think there is a good chance for the conflict to end, the choice Trump gave them was accept the deal or be annihilated.

Dr. J, I know several liberals, and democrats that believe in prayer and do pray, and I know conservatives that don’t believe in prayer.

Hanne, but do you give credit where credit is due? Are you giving President Trump credit for freeing the hostages and working hard at creating peace? Just curious…

Hamas hates Jews. They can’t help it, ever since they were toddlers they were taught to
hate Jews. Their hatred stems from their founding documents that explicitly lays out their violent antisemitic views as a religious one against Jews; the Prophet Muhammad called
on Muslims to kill all Jews. Hamas believes, as Hitler did, that the Jews control the world through wealth, academia and the media. Their leaders have called for Jihad to liberate all
of Palestine from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.

The tenet of Islam is war. When or wherever the followers of Muhammad find no Jews or Christians or Buddhist or Hindu to wage war against, they wage war among their own Muslim factions. Shi’a vs. Sunni. Shiite, Sunnah… and so on.
They will not seek peace in the world until it all belongs to them!
America really needs to look closely at our innate tendency to think we must “welcome” all immigrants who show up seeking entry.
We, I fear, will not properly filter out the “Hamas” types inclined to war, who will apply for schools or homes here.
