A longtime Pleasant Hill icon, unofficially known as the Hospice Tree of Lights, came down late Monday night when the heritage oak tree along Gregory Lane near the park fell. Residents nearby described the sound as a thunderous crash, like a transformer exploding. Power briefly went out in the area, and police issued a text alert about the road closure. By morning, several community members gathered at the site, expressing sadness and disbelief over the loss of the beloved tree. Thank you so much to Lisa Chambers for sharing the information with us.

Climate Crisis!!! I will sponsor a bill to enrich a non-profit that will be created by a friend. This non-profit’s important work will be to inventory these older trees impacted by fossil fuel derived climate issues. When one of them falls we’ll begin legal action against the producers of fossil fuels who caused the tree’s undue demise.

Check the obituary’s, someone important must have just died…seems like that’s a typical observation in human story telling.

I wonder if Pleasant Hill ever had this tree inspected by an arborist to determine whether it’s healthy or not. The Hospice Tree of Lights on Morello in Martinez just lost a large branch a couple weeks back. Now, every time I drive by it I wonder if it’s going to loose another branch or the whole thing come crashing down!

No one in here mentioning the tree fell just mins after the vote in Pleasant Hill City Council when they turned their back on the neighbors that came out to speak and represent against corporate greed and back room deals that threaten our small town charm by proposed development in a flood zone. The mighty has fallen. The people will not bend either. If it’s a fight, they want… break us. We ready.

I showed this story to an Injun I know whose name means “Broken Tree” .
I know that the Native Americans are closer to nature than we are and more in tune with the Earth and it’s spiritual being.
Certainly he was the one to ask about the meaning of this event, so I did.
He waved smoke from a smoldering bunch of leaves up to his face and said “Tree is now as Wells Fargo is…. both have branches everywhere.

Well look at the heritage (synonym for dangetous) oak tree covering Oak Park from side to side. The problem with these trees is if they are anywhere power lined Davies Trees butchers them and they over extend to the opposite side to balance.
