Powerful Storm System, Possible Atmospheric River, To Hit Bay Area Later This Week

The National Weather Service is warning beachgoers along the Northern California coast to stay vigilant as dangerous sneaker waves and strong rip currents continue this week. The conditions are expected to persist into midweek before calmer seas return briefly. Meanwhile, attention is shifting to the end of the week, when a significant storm system — possibly an atmospheric river — is expected to hit the Bay Area and Central Coast beginning Friday. The system could bring beneficial rainfall, gusty winds, and minor flooding, forecasters said, though exact impacts will be refined in the coming days. Warm and dry conditions will prevail before the weather pattern turns unsettled by the weekend, according to the NWS.

I remember when they used to call them “Heavy Rain” Storms. You never heard or saw the term “atmospheric river”. Just trying to scare the Sheeple.

yep, back before there was the Weather Channel, and before the networks found a way to sensationalize (hence commercialize) weather. Kudos to John Coleman (Chicago weatherman) who figured a way to monetize sensationalized weather. I guess that term is more marketable, and less likely to raise the ire of PETA, than “raining cats and dogs.”

Nobody is scared of the term “atmospheric river.” It’s just a more specific description for the rain you’re going to get.

It normally rains on and off the for the last week and a half of October, then it usually
clears up by Halloween.

This could be historic!!!

I got up at 1 AM to take out a little present the puppy made and the wind was howling and heavy rain was pouring down… the rain only lasted a couple minutes but the wind kept up for a few hours. It was dry by morning.

Oh no it’s the atmospheric River! The sky is falling, pigs are flying and other cliche’s.
It’s going to rain maybe, get over all the we weather people hoopla fancy names for rain.

I read online that someone noticed there have been no chemtrails since the shutdown. Guess the money for it was shutdown too. Maybe mother nature can get back to normal.

OTOH, the tic-tac-toe planes were out this morning spreading chemtrails throughout the clouds. Why? Probably the egghead scientists who promote this nonsense want their paychecks.

I have a pretty wide view from my place, looking East out over the central valley just before dawn yesterday I counted 9 jet contrails lit up like neon by the rising sun.
I’m not a chem trail conspiracy believer, but it sure looked cool.

Perhaps a little science here will help. Contrails from airliners take place above 30,000 feet where it is cold enough that water off the engines turn to ice drops which melt about 1/2 mile or so behind. Airlines climb to that cruising altitude because it takes less fuel. You won’t see contrails as planes leave the airport on it’s way to climb to cruising altitude.
.
Chemtrails are like skywriting that we used to see and are sprayed at around between 20,000 or 25,000 feet. They are not the result of exhaust from the planes but deliberately sprayed. Those stay up for awhile. Chemtrails are not a conspiracy theory. States have banned chemtrail spraying. Geoengineering is taught at some universities. Such experiments have been going on since 1950.
.
Try looking up from your smartphone and look at the sky for a change. 😎
