POSTPONED: Ceremonial Cultural Burn At Cal State East Bay Concord Campus

Due to expected rain, the cultural burn scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25, near the Cal State East Bay, Concord Campus at 4700 Ygnacio Valley Road between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., is being rescheduled for a later date, likely in the Spring. The mak-warép Ohlone Land Conservancy, in partnership with Cal State East Bay’s Concord Campus, CAL FIRE, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, and the Contra Costa Resource Conservation District (CCRCD) had planned to conduct a ceremonial cultural burn of less than one acre at the Concord Campus. This event continues the restoration of Indigenous-led fire practices in the East Bay, reaffirming cultural traditions and supporting ecological health on Ohlone homelands. The project is designed to reduce invasive grasses, improve soil health, and restore native plants important for food, medicine and basketry. Again, this event will not take place on Saturday. It will be postponed to the Spring.

I find it to be funny that we are getting notified of the cancelation of an event that was by invitation only.

I’m still going to BBQ a tri tip.
It would take heap more than rain to make-um this pale face run like yellow dog to stay dry with squaw…. Well, depending on which squaw we’re talking about that is.
