Why not?As long as they start recording when it’s Red not Yellow!

No …we don’t need more “big brother” ….we should fund local LE to sufficiently patrol

It’s government overreach in the guise of public safety. It amounts to the government spying
on its citizens as a way to collect revenue for the city, and the camera company that installed and maintains them. There isn’t any definitive proof that they are effective in preventing accidents, there is the possibility that some drivers will slam on their breaks, resulting in more rear end collisions. If the cameras malfunction and give out an incorrect reading, some people will be getting tickets they didn’t deserve. I have always been in favor of less government, not more government.

not into the spying conspiracy, but if my friends or family are killed by a red light runner, because that runner knew nothing is enforced or watched. I wonder what I would think about cameras… If people knew that running a red light where a camera exists will cost them $350+ they will be thinking twice about hitting the gas instead of the break when seeing that yellow light far ahead. I’m amazed at how many Nixle messages I get about accidents on Ygnacio Valley, one was this morning. Pretty sure they are mostly red light runner accidents. Would cameras on the entire stretch reduce those?

Slam on their brakes????
Maybe the state should remove all traffic lights and stop signs so people don’t run into each other!
And maybe it’s space aliens spying on us in the guise of traffic cameras! Oh No!!!

Funny you mention that. Check out roundabouts (no lights) and raised or no speed limits and their effect on accidents. I’ll wait

Yes. Too many people ignore red lights. We also need speed cameras to crack down on the excessive speeding on Willow Pass road and other roads in town.

I think police officers would be much better than a camera that can very easily malfunction or needs recalibration consistently. My company sells and installs CCTV for the city, county, state, Universities and federal government buildings. It is just as another poster cited a money scam to collect more revenue.

No!!! We don’t need more government cameras to spy on us. Concord’s existing traffic cameras and Flock LPR cameras are already bad enough.

Newer vehicles know what road you’re on and what speed limit is.
Won’t be long before big brother will have your vehicle snitching on you.

My car projects a speed limit on my windshield. It appears to be controlled by a random-number generator.

No absolutely not. Citations should be handed out by persons of law enforcement. so stupid… if it is a problem then there should be officers to correct it… not some crappy AI.

So stupid?
If law enforcement wasn’t run ragged chasing the criminals that the liberal California government and their supporters allow to run wild in communities they could enforce the traffic laws.

Don’t matter we have plate reflector covers front/rear no pictures to get.

I agree, Paul.
It’s the only thing that will change the behavior of the me first screw everyone else because I’m more important than everyone adolescent level thinking driving adults.

In general, I am opposed to these cameras, mainly because I do not think the government needs to be recording people going about their day to day business. I have witnessed many individuals violate the red light, as we are all sitting at an intersection with zero, meaning no, traffic at all, yet the light is preventing us from moving, so they just, go, against the red. I cannot blame them. I don’t because my luck is, I’d get caught, and then have to pay the few hundred dollars. I’d rather funds and efforts be toward removing the crack and meth heads from the corners, clearing away their trash camps. Put cameras outside jewelry stores where the mobs like to hit.

I’m a firm believer in being held accountable for your actions. Anyone protesting things that enforce our laws should be in question, not the method of how they get caught breaking the laws. Don’t want a ticket? Don’t do dumb.

Unfortunately there are hordes of drivers out there that act and behave like self centered children, that need to be watched(and punished when they are naughty) so that they don’t hurt others. Red light cameras wouldn’t be needed if all people drove like responsible adults.

1000% Red light runners are out of control. There isnt even hesitation running them
