Rep. Josh Harder (CA-09) introduced legislation Thursday that would prohibit private or undisclosed meetings between California utility companies and state regulators, following hearings on another potential PG&E rate hike. The Curb Private Utilities Corruption (CPUC) Act would require the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to make all interactions with the utilities it regulates publicly available online, a press release issued Thursday noted. “It’s absolutely insane that every time PG&E wants a rate increase the CPUC just gives it to them, no questions asked,” Harder said. “Valley families are paying way too much for electricity and they deserve answers as to why.” Harder noted that PG&E raised rates six times last year while earning nearly $2.5 billion in profits and is now seeking additional increases through 2030. The bill comes as part of Harder’s broader push to hold utilities accountable. He is also leading legislation to limit companies like PG&E to one rate hike per year, aiming to provide ratepayers with more transparency and relief.
We are the sheep waiting to be fleeced…. as usual.
It’s been legal? Well there’s a big problem … no “Brown Act” ??!! where do I sign up in support of CA-09?
Well…. a fart in the eye of a hurricane… comes to mind. But at least now some people have heard of a CA Rep named Harder.
Kind of like the Brown act – seems like a good idea!
Bill info not available yet. Based on description above, am in support.

Considering how effective the Brown Act is, this law will be as useless.
We want as much transparency as we can get…but I believe transparency rarely, if ever,
stops the back-room back-scratchin’ deals from happening.
Some don’t even hide the “buy-in.” Look at what Newsom’s already very wealthy wife drags
into the family (and her personal) accounts in star-power $$$ and Favors —
all filed under the name of charity.
Every wife, kid or third cousin twice removed will swap favors with their “guy in Congress.”
